One evening, Olive was in her AOII room with Kendall when there was a sudden knock at the door.
"Who is it?" Olive called, quickly pulling on a hoodie to cover her tank top.
"It's Matt," came the familiar voice of her ex-boyfriend.
Olive froze, her heart slamming in her chest. Kendall's eyes widened as she scrambled to gather her things.
"Matt?" Olive said, her voice cracking. "What are you doing here?"
"I just... I wanted to talk," Matt said. "Can I come in?"
Olive gestured frantically for Kendall to hide. Kendall smirked, amused by Olive's panic, but eventually slipped into the closet, the door creaking as it closed.
Taking a deep breath, Olive opened the door. Matt stood there, tall and handsome as ever, holding a bouquet of red roses.
"I thought you liked these," he said with a sheepish smile, his blue eyes sparkling.
Olive blinked, trying to focus. "What are you doing here?"
"I know I messed up," Matt said, stepping into the room. "Getting dropped by Alpha Sig... I've had a lot of time to think, and I realized what I lost. You."
Olive's stomach churned. The Matt she'd known—wild, reckless, and carefree—was standing in front of her, looking like he'd just walked off a rom-com set.
"Matt, I don't think—" she started, but he cut her off.
"Just hear me out," he said, stepping closer. "I know I wasn't good enough for you. But I want to try again. I want to be better—for you."
Behind the closet door, Kendall was stifling laughter. Olive shot a quick glance in the mirror across the room, catching Kendall's teasing smirk through the crack.
"Matt," Olive said, stepping back, "this isn't a good time."
He frowned. "Are you seeing someone else?"
Olive's pulse quickened. "No, I just—"
Another creak from the closet. Matt turned toward the sound, his brow furrowing.
"What was that?" he asked.
"Nothing!" Olive said quickly, her voice an octave higher than usual. "Probably just my roommate's cat."
Matt gave her a skeptical look but didn't press further. Instead, he handed her the roses and sighed. "I'll give you space, but I'm not giving up. You're worth it, Olive."
She forced a smile, waiting until he was gone before locking the door and collapsing onto her bed.
Kendall emerged from the closet, grinning ear to ear. "Roommate's cat? Really?"
Olive groaned, covering her face with her hands. "Don't start."
"Oh, I'm starting," Kendall teased, climbing onto the bed beside her. "You're just that irresistible, huh?"
Olive shoved her, but her laughter quickly melted into something softer as Kendall leaned in, her lips brushing against Olive's neck.
"You know," Kendall murmured, "if this is what sneaking around gets us, I'm not mad about it."
Olive didn't answer, pulling her closer instead.
