By the time Olive and Gabe made it back to the hotel, the dizziness in Olive's head had only worsened, and the weight of the formal seemed to press down on her shoulders. She had always been the one who kept her cool, but tonight, it felt like she was losing her grip. Gabe, ever the gentleman, offered to help her to her room, and she reluctantly accepted.

Once inside, Olive collapsed onto the bed, her head spinning with a mix of exhaustion and something else—something she couldn't quite name. Gabe sat beside her, concern flashing in his eyes.

"You really don't look good, Olive," he said gently. "Maybe you should lie down for a bit."

Olive nodded, her stomach still churning, but the reality of the situation started to settle in. She wasn't ready to deal with the emotions she'd been avoiding all night—especially the feelings she had for Kendall, feelings she couldn't understand.

"I'm fine," Olive said, her voice softer than usual. "Really. I just... need a minute."

Gabe seemed to take the hint, standing up to go to the door. But before he could leave, Olive grabbed his hand, suddenly desperate for something to distract her from the overwhelming thoughts swirling in her mind.

"Wait," Olive said, looking up at him. "Maybe... maybe you could stay. I just—don't want to be alone right now."

Gabe hesitated for a moment, then nodded. "Okay. But if you need anything, just say the word."

He sat back down next to her, and Olive found herself leaning into his side. His warm presence was comforting in a way she hadn't expected. She closed her eyes for a moment, but the tension between them was undeniable.

Gabe turned to her, his hand brushing a lock of hair away from her face. "You're beautiful, you know that?"

Olive's heart skipped a beat at the way he was looking at her, and before she could stop herself, she leaned in, kissing him. It wasn't out of desire—it was more about needing to feel something, anything, to drown out the chaos inside her head.

As the kiss deepened, Olive felt her walls come down. Gabe kissed her with a kind of tenderness that made her forget her confusion for a moment. Her heart pounded, her body reacting to the closeness, but it wasn't the same. It wasn't what she had wanted, what she had longed for. Still, it was a distraction from everything she didn't want to deal with.
