The following week, Olive sat in the small office of her sorority advisor, Mrs. Harper, heart pounding in her chest. She had known this conversation was coming, but it didn't make it any easier. The moment Mrs. Harper had mentioned needing to talk, Olive had felt a pit form in her stomach. Her mind raced—had someone found out about her and Kendall? About her feelings for Kendall? Had they heard the whispers on campus?

"Olive," Mrs. Harper began softly, her voice thick with concern. "I've heard some troubling things about you and Kendall. About your... relationship. And I think it's important we have a conversation."

Olive's throat went dry. "Mrs. Harper, I—"

Mrs. Harper held up a hand, stopping her. "I've known you for a long time now, Olive. I've always been proud of you and how you've represented AOII. But, as your advisor, I have to consider the implications of what's been happening on campus. Your actions, your... choices, have created a rift within the chapter. And I'm afraid, after everything that's come to light, I have no choice but to remove you from your position as chapter president."

The words hit Olive like a punch in the gut. "What? No—please, Mrs. Harper, you can't—"

"I'm sorry, Olive. But this is a matter of reputation, and I've seen the way things are spiraling. I have to think about what's best for the chapter."

Olive felt the tears sting her eyes. She had worked so hard for this position. She had earned the respect of her sisters—at least, she thought she had. The weight of losing everything she had worked for in this sorority crashed over her, and all she could do was nod.

"Thank you for everything, Mrs. Harper," she whispered, barely able to hold it together. "I understand."

As Olive left the office, her hands shaking, she was met with the stares of her sisters in the hallway. They all knew what had happened. The whispers had grown louder, and now, they had taken her position away. She felt the cold, crushing realization that she no longer had a place here. At least, not the place she had fought so hard for.

The pain of it settled in her chest like an iron weight. But as she walked down the hallway, trying to pull herself together, a voice cut through the silence.

"Olive."

It was Kendall.

Olive's heart skipped a beat, and she turned to see Kendall standing a few feet away, her face serious but her eyes soft with something unspoken. She was standing tall, her usual confident presence commanding attention.

"What are you doing here?" Olive asked, her voice shaking, though she tried to sound strong.

"I came to do what's right," Kendall said, her voice unwavering. "You might think I'm mad at you, and maybe I am, but I'll never let anyone treat you like this. Not when you're standing up for who you are."

Before Olive could process what was happening, Kendall pushed open the door to the AOII chapter meeting room. All eyes turned toward her as she stepped in, standing tall in the doorway.

"I don't care what's been said, and I don't care about the gossip," Kendall continued, her voice growing louder, stronger. "You all need to hear this. Olive is my friend. She is brave for being who she is, and I will fight for her every single time."

Olive's heart was racing now, and she stood frozen, watching Kendall in awe. She had never expected this—especially not from Kendall, not after everything they'd been through.

Kendall's eyes scanned the room, challenging every single one of Olive's sisters. "I know you all have your opinions, but one thing is for sure—Olive deserves to be who she is without fear of being punished for it. If that means she doesn't fit your perfect little idea of what AOII should be, then maybe it's time for you to rethink that. She's one of the strongest people I know, and I'm proud of her. Don't you dare take that away from her."

Olive couldn't breathe. She felt a knot in her throat, a mix of emotions she didn't know how to process. She had always been afraid of being judged, of being an outsider. But here was Kendall—standing in front of a room full of people, defending her, and everything she was.

"I'm sorry," Kendall said, her voice softening slightly. "But even though we're not together anymore, I'll always stand by Olive. She deserves better than this."

With that, Kendall turned and walked out of the room, leaving behind a stunned silence.

Olive stood there, frozen for a long moment, her heart pounding in her chest. Kendall had just put herself on the line for her, not because she owed Olive anything, but because she truly cared.

As Olive turned to face her sisters, she could see the doubt in their eyes, the uncertainty. But there was something else too—something new, something that hadn't been there before. They were listening. And for the first time in weeks, Olive felt like she wasn't invisible.

She had lost her position as president, but maybe—just maybe—she was starting to find her place in the world again.
