******************************************
After the chaos at the wedding, the Devil's daughter was forced to fulfil her duty and the reason she was created; to ferry the dead. And with what just happened, that was a lot of duty.
She barely stepped more than a few meters outside when the first victim of Kai's psychotic massacre appeared. The woman was wearing a beautiful white wedding dress thought most of it had been splattered with the owner's blood. Jo crossed her arms, making her look both elegant and royally pissed off.
"So, this is what you really look like, huh?" Jo asked, closing the gap between her and the demon. Once she was close enough, she looked up. "No offence, but you look like death." She smiled at her own dark humour.
"You're one to talk, Jo. You're as white as your dress," the demon retorted with no sign of emotion on her skeletal face.
Jo scoffed. "You've even got a different personality."
"Obviously. Because I'm not Emily anymore. I'm not that sweet, innocent, weak little human. She's dead. Gone. Kaput."
"Oh, no, I know. You're just the annoying bitch of a demon now, right? You know, I get it, I do. But Emily was a big part of you whether you want to admit it or not. And you're not gonna let her go that easily."
The demon cackled deeply, "Seriously? Do you think I care about my human vessel? Oh, boy! Do I have news for you, Jo! She's not a part of me. She never was. And now... Well, now she's just lost, wandering soul forever lost in Hell." The creature shrugged and put a hand on Jo's shoulder. "Don't worry though, you'll see her soon enough."
With one final wink, the demon clutched Jo's shoulder and from around her hand sprouted dancing flames. These flames eventually engulfed Jo entirely and with a roaring hiss, sucked her into the ground. All that was left was a black patch of soot and charred grass.
Done with her job, the Devil's daughter began to move on but something Jo said stuck in her mind.
But Emily was a big part of you whether you want to admit it or not. And you're not gonna let her go that easily.
Could Jo be right? The demon did still feel something as if remnants of Emily's soul and humanity had been left behind. Unfortunately, or fortunately, before the creature could think anything more of the matter, a crowd of dead people appeared. They queued up in front of the Devil's daughter, all scared and confused wanting to move on but not wanting to die. It was a mess.
By the time the queue started to thin, the demon was drained and struggling to continue her duty. Suddenly, another familiar face emerged before her.
"Liv? What are you doing here?" it asked.
The ghost of Liv had red puffy eyes and translucent tears still staining her cheeks. "I was dying because Kai killed himself. But then I saw Tyler hurt so I told him to kill me so he could change and heal himself..."
As soon as she finished her rambling, Tyler stumbled out of the building and fumbled around his jeans for his phone. He only stopped when he noticed the demon. Without a word, he nodded in her direction and then sprinted into the forest.
The demon had forgotten Liv was there until she spoke again, drawing the creature's attention. "I love him. I really do," the witch uttered, gazing longingly in the direction Tyler had disappeared in.
