Luz's POVIt's been a couple hours since the battle with Amity and ever since then I've been a surprisingly chipper mood. It's not like I'm never in a good mood or anything, but just knowing that my skills are comparable to Amity's is just so cool to think about.
Gus and Willow had also noticed this, but probably due to me running ahead of them to get to the next town with my next gym battle. Them only being able to catch up due to me having to stop many times to regain my breath.
Eevee seemed to have the same excitement though as she had the same amount of energy bursting out of her as I do. Being able to tie with Amity's Eevee must've given her a huge ego boost. You know what they saw, like trainer, like Pokémon, or something like that.
While this new excessive amount of running was tiring, it also let us gain serious ground on getting to Ameliorate City. To the point we'll probably make it there by tomorrow, even if we took a bit of a pitstop. Which means that's exactly what we're going to do because my legs feel like they'll die if we run any longer.
We decided to set up some blankets on the ground in a grass field, similar to the one that me and Amity had our battle in, but a bit different with the flowers being more red than blue. As always, the three of us sent out all our Pokémon as we waited for Gus to cook one of his famously delish meals.
While we waited, me and Willow started talking about my upcoming gym battle. "So, you already think you've got an idea of what Pokémon you'll bring to this gym battle?" Willow asks as she pets her Bulbasaur.
"Hm, not really. I don't know what type the gym uses nor do I know how many Pokémon they'll even allow." I say as debate who I should bring and who I shouldn't, but is pretty hard to do with no knowledge about the gym in the slightest. "Oh wait, do you know anything about my next gym Gus?"
This causes him to look up from the good he was making as he seems to stare off into space, probably thinking about my question. "If I remember correctly, it's a normal type gym that allows only three Pokémon." Gus responds before going back to cooking, but that's all I needed to hear.
"Okay, then I can use Eevee, Rowlet, and Marowak then!" I say with confidence as I throw my hand fist into the air.
"Why those three?" Willow said as she stared at the three Pokémon that I had chosen.
"Eevee because not only is she also a normal type, but also won me my first gym battle. Rowlet because I promised him that he would have the next gym battle. And Marowak cause he's my newest Pokémon as well as a ghost type, meaning he won't be affected by most of their moves." I say as I turn my body to all my Pokémon.
I can see Eevee and Marowak both cheering excited for the next gym battle. Oshawott, while looking a bit sad from being left out, still cheered as he knows he had his chance last gym. Rowlet on the other hand was just looking away entirely from everyone else.
"Hey Rowlet, you good?" I tried asking, but ended up getting ignored. "Willow, what's wrong with Rowlet?" As I ask this, she also seems to notice the odd behavior from my shiny owl.
She then suddenly snaps her fingers as her eyes widen slightly, probably meaning that she has an idea of what's going on thankfully. "Maybe he's sad that he couldn't beat Amity's Pokémon while Oshawott won his battle and Eevee at least tied during hers." When she says this, it suddenly all made sense to me. Anyone would feel sad when everyone else around them does something they can't, I should know from school experiences.
"Rowlet, is that true?" I asked as I still got no response. I then scoot towards him as I petted his head. "Hey, I get how you feel, I've been in similar situations back in the human realm. You just have to know that everything will be fine and-" But before I can even finish my sentence, I hear a snore come from right in front of me. With my amazing skills of deductive reasoning, I was able to see how it must've been Rowlet as I turn him around.
