In true Tony fashion, an engagement party was thrown as soon as possible before the wedding planning started. You since you had moved into Tony's floor a while back, and your old floor turned into the wedding headquarters. Wedding planning immediately became Tony's number one project.
"Tony," you yawned as you walked out of the elevator. "Tony?" You found him hunched over the table, working with a hologram of the wedding venue. "Tony." You placed a hand on his back, causing him to jump.
"Y/N!" He exclaimed, hand going over his heart. "Geez, you scared me."
You gave him an unpleased look. "Come to bed... please."
"It's not bedtime. It's—"
"Unfortunately, Boss," FRIDAY interrupted, "it's well after midnight."
"Well, shit." He fully turned to face you. "I'm so sorry, honey. I was working on the decorations and the flowers and lost track of time."
"You know," you sighed, looping your arms around his neck, "I'm supposed to be the bridezilla."
"I'm sorry. I can step back."
"No, you can't." Tony's hands found your hips and pulled you to stand between his legs. "It's one of the reasons I love you, but it's also one of the reasons neither of us is getting much sleep. You know that I struggle to sleep without you anymore."
"Then let's go to bed." As he stood up, he kissed the tip of your nose. "We can sleep in."
"We have a Team meeting."
"FRIDAY? In the morning, inform the Team that Y/N and I will not be attending. We have sleep and cuddles to catch up on."
~~~
Tony was glad that you were out of the Tower when FRIDAY informed him of who was waiting in his office for him. He threw the door open as he entered, not caring if he scared the unwelcome guest. Pepper jumped slightly from where she was standing at the windows, turning towards the door.
"Tony—"
"What the hell are you doing here, Pepper?" Tony folded his arms over his chest and stayed near the door.
"Nice to see you too, Tony," she smiled.
"Just answer the question."
"I heard about your engagement. Congratulations."
"Thanks."
"I can only hope that you can be a better husband than you would have to me."
"If coming here to belittle me is all you wanted to do, I'm going to need you to leave."
"My apologies, I didn't mean to belittle you. All I'm saying is that I hope you don't go about ruining the whole thing. You're not exactly husband material."
"Goodbye, Pepper." Tony turned away, about ready to head out.
"I hope you don't screw this up. And if you do, Tony, I'm always here waiting."
Tony stormed out of the office. He called down to security to get Pepper out of the building and to make sure she was never let in again. He went straight back to wedding planning, needing to throw himself into a project. Though he tried, Pepper's words sank in and began to take root.
What if he wasn't husband material? Would you stick it out, or would you leave him? How quickly could he mess this up? Tony couldn't lose you; it might actually kill him. Tony needed to make sure that this wedding was perfect. To make sure it was perfect for you. To show you how much he would do for you.
