VIENNA TRUDGED BACK UP THE STAIRS, HER MIND STILL SPINNING FROM WHAT HAD HAPPENED IN THE LIBRARY.

Dean was angry, like really angry. He hated his father, everyone in the house knew that much. But he rarely yelled like that, especially not at Vienna. They had a special relationship. Vienna was a good listener above almost anything else, and Dean had a lot of issues to unpack.

She understood him, and he loved her like a sister. It was rare that he would lash out at her, but she was understanding of him, of course she was.

She walked up the stairs, Cassie next to her, a slightly awkward silence shared between the two. They were met at the top of the stairs by Michael, whose eyes immediately fell on Vienna and the dejected look on her face.

"Dean?" He asks.

"What?" Vienna looks at him.

"The look on your face." he says, then his eyes dart to Cassie's uncertain expression. "Both of you. Is it Dean?"

"Yeah." Vienna says.

"Mmm. You okay?"

"Fine." the brunette girl shrugs.

"I found out the truth about his dad and he got so mad." Cassie confesses.

"Yeah, he's kind of....touchy about that subject." Michael says.

"I didn't mean to upset him, really."

"Cass, I know you didn't. you're new, you didn't know that it would upset him. and dean, he's kind of a ticking time bomb when it comes to his dad. you couldn't have seen it coming." Vienna places a tender hand on her new friend's shoulder in an attempt to cheer her up.

"Yeah, and besides, he'll cool off in a few minutes and it'll go back to how things were." Michael adds. "Believe me, I've lived in a house with the guy for years, this isn't my first rodeo."

"Thanks guys." Cassie says quietly, though she seemed less uncertain. "I just-why didn't anyone tell me?"

"We thought about it." Vienna starts, looking to Michael momentarily. "But...we just wanted to make sure you were....alright...before we told you."
