Chapter 27: first words

The twins are now 10 months old and using furniture to stand up and take a few steps while holding on to something. They are also teething which means they are up every 2 hours in pain. Gracie has been a massive help with the twins and so has Kasey when she comes home from uni on weekends.

Autumns alarm goes off at 6:00. She wakes up and puts her glasses on to turn it off and Charlotte stirs. "Good morning darling." Charlotte says. "Good morning my sweet." Autumn says and they hear the twins crying they get out of their bed and go into the twins room. "Hey boys." autumn says and picks Wyatt up and Charlotte picks Theo up. "Mamma" Wyatt babbles. "Mamma mamma." Theo babbles autumn and Charlotte look at each other. "D-did they just say their first word." Charlotte says. "They did." Autumn says. "That's right boys I'm mamma." Charlotte says looking at the twins with love in her eyes. Autumn and Charlotte get the boys changed into some clothes for nursery and go wake up Gracie then take the boys down stairs giving them some porridge for breakfast. Gracie comes down and makes some waffles and eats them on the way to college.

Autumn and Charlotte leave to the nursery with the boys once they're in their car seats they get in and drive to the nursery. They arrive at the nursery and get the boys out and take them to the office to see Marjorie before charlottes shift starts. "Morning Marjorie."Charlotte says. "Morning my love, hello precious boys." Marjorie says. "Mamma, mama." The boys babble. "Did they just say mamma." Marjorie says. "Yes they both said it for the first time when we got them up their first word we are over the moon." Charlotte beams. "My sweet shall we go do hand over our shift starts soon." Autumn says and they leave the office with the boys. "Morning Carly here is Theo he's had breakfast and ready to start his day." Charlotte says and puts Theo down and he crawls around. "And here's Wyatt he's had breakfast as well." Autumn says and put Wyatt down he crawls to his brother. Wyatt is older by 2 minutes.

Autumn walks Charlotte to the pre-school room and kisses her before she goes in the room once Charlotte has gone into the room autumn makes her way back to the office. While autumn sets up her desk her phone rings it's Kasey.

"Hi Kasey you okay darling." Autumn answers the phone.

"Hi mama yes I'm okay I just wanted to let you know I'm coming home tomorrow for the weekend I've got some I want you and mum to meet." Kasey says

"Okay my love I'll let your mum know and we'll set up your room for you and put clean bedding on your bed." Autumn says.

"Okay thank you mama I love you." Kasey says.

"I love you too my sweet girl." Autumn says and they both hang up the phone.

"Is Kasey alright." Marjorie asks. "Yes Marjorie she's fine she was just letting me know she coming home tomorrow for the weekend and there's someone she wants me and Charlotte to meet." Autumn says and carry's on with her work. There's a knock at the office door. "Come in." Autumn says and Charlotte walks in with Wyatt. "What's wrong my sweet." Autumn asks going over to her wife and their son. "He was sick, Theo seems fine but Carly rang pre-school saying Wyatt was sick and has a temperature." Charlotte says. "I'll keep him in here with me for the rest of today and has he been given Calpol for his temperature my sweet." Autumn says. "Okay my love and yes he has I've also told Carly to keep an eye on Theo in case he's sick too." Charlotte says and gives autumn a kiss and kisses Wyatt's head then leaves the office and goes back to pre-school.

"Marjorie I'm going to stay off tomorrow with Wyatt and he should be better by Monday." Autumn says. "Okay my love will Charlotte be bringing Theo in tomorrow." Marjorie says. "If he's not sick then yes he will be in with Charlotte tomorrow." Autumn says. The end of the day comes and Charlotte collects Theo and goes to the office to see Wyatt asleep in autumns arms. "Hey my sweet I'll be ready in a minute." Autumn whispers so she doesn't disturb Wyatt. "Okay my love." Charlotte says in a hushed tone. Autumn finishes packing up her things and takes charlottes hand with her free hand they walk out to the car and put the twins in their car seats. They drive home.

Once they arrive home they take their shoes off and change the twins into the onesies and put them in their cots because they have tea at nursery. They go down stairs with the baby monitor and sit cuddled up on the sofa. "Oh my sweet Kasey is coming home tomorrow for the weekend and I'm gonna stay home with Wyatt while you and Theo go into nursery and I'll sort out her room and put clean bedding on her bed and she's bringing someone she wants us to meet she didn't say who." Autumn says. "Okay my darling I can't wait to have our little family of 6 back together for the weekend." Charlotte says. "Me neither my sweet." Autumn says and they put a film on to watch.

Once the film has finished they go upstairs and get into pyjamas and get into bed Charlotte is resting her head on autumns chest while autumn plays with her hair. "Goodnight my sweet." Autumn says. "Goodnight babe." Charlotte says lifting her head to kiss autumn and autumn leans down closing the gap. They pull away from the kiss and fall asleep in each other's arms. Charlotte wakes up to one of the twins being sick and crying she gets out of bed to go see if they're okay. "Aw Theo are you poorly too baby." Charlotte says and picks him up and changes him then sits in the rocking chair and soothes him back to sleep. She cleans his cot and lays him back down quietly leaving the room again and sees autumn sat up. "Are they okay my sweet." Autumn asks. "Theo has just been sick I'll ring Marjorie tomorrow to let her know that I'm going to be staying home with you and the twins and hopefully they're better by Monday." Charlotte says.  "Okay my sweet come on let's go back to sleep." Autumn says and they cuddle back up to each other and fall back to sleep.
