Chapter 46: A Surprise Visit to the Office
It was a regular day at the Jeon Corporation headquarters, and the office buzzed with its usual seriousness. Employees hurriedly typed reports, assistants darted around with files, and Wonwoo sat in his glass-walled office, immersed in a strategy report for the upcoming quarter.
The knock at the door was light, almost hesitant. Without looking up, Wonwoo called, “Come in.”
But instead of the usual assistant or an executive, there was silence. He glanced up, eyebrows furrowing—only to find a familiar figure standing in the doorway.
Mingyu, dressed casually in an oversized sweater and jeans, was holding their baby girl, Somi, snugly wrapped in a soft blanket. Her little head peeked out, her chubby cheeks rosy and bright.
“Surprise!” Mingyu said with a grin, stepping into the office.
Wonwoo blinked, momentarily frozen, before his face split into the widest smile anyone in the building had ever seen. “What are you two doing here?” he asked, already standing and crossing the room in long strides.
Mingyu shrugged, looking cheeky. “You’ve been so busy with work, so we decided to bring some sunshine to your day.”
Wonwoo didn’t respond with words. Instead, he took Somi into his arms, holding her close and pressing a soft kiss to her forehead. The baby gurgled happily, her tiny fingers grabbing onto his tie.
“She’s getting so big,” he murmured, as if it was the first time he’d noticed, his voice filled with awe.
“Big enough to miss her dad,” Mingyu teased, leaning in to plant a kiss on Wonwoo’s cheek.
The sight of their usually stoic and intimidating boss cradling a baby spread through the office like wildfire. Employees peeked around corners, whispered in hushed tones, and exchanged wide-eyed looks.
“That’s his baby?” one whispered.
“And his husband,” another added, pointing at Mingyu, who had perched himself on the edge of Wonwoo’s desk, looking completely at home.
No one dared to enter the office uninvited, but the glass walls offered a perfect view of the heartwarming scene. Wonwoo, the man who could command a room with a single glance, was now all soft smiles and quiet chuckles as Somi played with his tie and giggled.
“Do you want to meet her?” Mingyu suddenly called out, noticing the curious stares of the staff.
“Mingyu,” Wonwoo said in a low voice, but his husband ignored him, beckoning to the nearest employees.
Slowly, a few brave souls approached. Mingyu took Somi back from Wonwoo and held her out for them to see. “This is Somi, our daughter,” he introduced proudly.
“She’s adorable!” one of the braver women exclaimed, her voice filled with genuine awe.
Somi, ever the charmer, babbled in response, her tiny hand waving in the air.
Wonwoo watched the interaction with a mix of pride and amusement. Mingyu had a way of breaking down walls wherever he went, and this was no different. His staff, who had always kept a respectful distance, now seemed utterly charmed.
After the mini meet-and-greet, Mingyu settled back into the office. He sat on the couch, Somi in his lap, while Wonwoo returned to his desk, his attention constantly shifting back to his family.
“You’re staying until I’m done for the day,” Wonwoo declared.
Mingyu raised an eyebrow. “Oh? And what if I wasn’t planning on it?”
“Then I’ll finish early and come home with you,” Wonwoo replied, smirking.
Mingyu laughed, shaking his head. “You’re hopeless.”
“And you love it.”
As Somi let out a little squeal, grabbing at Mingyu’s sleeve, Wonwoo couldn’t help but think how perfect his life was. No matter how stressful the day or how demanding his responsibilities, his husband and daughter were his greatest joys—and having them in his office, even just for a day, was a memory he’d treasure forever.
