Chapter 51: Daddy at Work
Wonwoo’s office was known for being an epitome of efficiency, professionalism, and order. Employees whispered about how their boss, the ruthless yet brilliant Jeon Wonwoo, could command a room with a single look. But today, the usual atmosphere was... different.
Walking into the building with his baby girl, Somi, in his arms, Wonwoo had an aura that made heads turn for reasons beyond fear. Dressed impeccably in his tailored suit, with tiny Somi nestled against his chest in a soft pink onesie, he looked every bit the doting father. Her chubby hands clutched onto his lapel as she curiously looked around, her big eyes taking in everything.
“Good morning, Mr. Jeon,” his staff greeted nervously, their voices a mix of awe and uncertainty as they caught sight of their intimidating boss carrying an adorable baby.
“Morning,” Wonwoo replied curtly, his tone neutral but his expression soft as he glanced down at Somi.
The staff was shocked to see their usually unflappable boss gently adjust his daughter’s beanie to make sure her tiny ears were covered.
When he entered his office, Wonwoo set Somi down on the plush couch he’d had prepared after learning she’d be accompanying him. Her favorite stuffed bunny was already waiting for her, along with a few soft toys and a small blanket.
Somi, however, wasn’t interested in staying on the couch for long. She babbled and reached for Wonwoo, making grabby hands.
“Already bored?” Wonwoo asked with a chuckle, picking her up and placing her on his lap as he sat at his desk. “Alright, princess, you can help me work.”
With her settled in his lap, Wonwoo attempted to go through his morning reports. Somi, however, had other plans. She smacked her tiny hands on the keyboard, giggling at the clacking sound, and reached for his pen, determined to scribble on his documents.
“Somi,” he said with mock sternness, pulling the pen away. “These are important papers.”
She pouted at him, her big eyes watering as though he’d broken her heart. Wonwoo sighed, defeated. “Fine, you can have the pen. But no chewing on it.”
By lunchtime, news had spread throughout the office that the infamous Jeon Wonwoo was at his desk with a baby on his lap. Employees passed by his office, sneaking glances through the glass walls, utterly bewildered. Some even snapped quick pictures, unable to believe the sight of their stone-faced boss cooing at his daughter.
“She’s really got him wrapped around her finger,” one employee whispered.
“Did you see him letting her press the buttons on his phone? I swear I saw him smile!”
Inside the office, Somi had clearly taken charge. She pointed at random objects on Wonwoo’s desk, babbling commands, and Wonwoo obediently showed her everything she wanted to see. When she started to get restless, he stood and paced around the room, gently bouncing her in his arms until she calmed down.
“You’re the real boss, aren’t you?” Wonwoo murmured, kissing her forehead.
By the time the day ended, Wonwoo was thoroughly exhausted but utterly content. As he packed up to head home, he looked at his daughter, now fast asleep in his arms, her tiny fingers clutching his tie.
“Ready to go see Papa?” he whispered softly, not wanting to wake her.
The office staff watched in stunned silence as their boss walked out, cradling his sleeping daughter with a tenderness they’d never imagined. For the first time, they saw a side of Jeon Wonwoo that wasn’t intimidating or cold—it was warm, loving, and completely smitten with his little girl.
And for Wonwoo, despite the stares and whispers, it was one of the best days he’d ever had at work.Chapter 51: Daddy's Girl and a Blushing Proposal
Somi had officially claimed her title as a Daddy’s Girl, and she made sure everyone knew it. From the moment she woke up in the morning, her tiny arms reached out for Wonwoo, completely bypassing Mingyu, who would be sitting right beside her crib.
“Seriously, Somi?” Mingyu huffed one morning, watching as Somi giggled and nestled into Wonwoo’s chest. “I was the one who fed you last night while your precious daddy was snoring away.”
Wonwoo, holding Somi in one arm and his coffee in the other, smirked. “What can I say? She has good taste.”
Mingyu pouted dramatically, crossing his arms. “This isn’t fair. I carried her for nine months, endured all those sleepless nights, and this is how she repays me?”
Somi babbled incoherently, her tiny fingers tugging on Wonwoo’s tie, clearly uninterested in her Papa’s complaints. Wonwoo chuckled and leaned down to kiss Mingyu’s cheek. “She loves you, too. She just knows who her favorite is.”
Mingyu glared at him, cheeks puffed out. “You’re impossible.”
This dynamic continued throughout the day. Somi followed Wonwoo around like a little shadow, reaching out for him whenever Mingyu tried to steal her attention. Even during family meals, she insisted on sitting on Wonwoo’s lap, ignoring Mingyu’s playful attempts to win her over with her favorite toys and silly faces.
By bedtime, Mingyu had officially had enough. He flopped onto the couch in their bedroom, sulking as he watched Wonwoo rock Somi to sleep.
“She’s going to forget I exist at this rate,” Mingyu muttered.
Wonwoo raised an amused brow. “Are you seriously jealous of your own daughter?”
“Yes,” Mingyu deadpanned.
Once Somi was asleep and tucked into her crib, Wonwoo returned to Mingyu, who was still pouting. He knelt in front of him, resting his hands on Mingyu’s knees. “How about we even the odds, then?”
Mingyu blinked, confused. “What are you talking about?”
Wonwoo smirked, his dark eyes gleaming with mischief. “Let’s make another one.”
Mingyu’s jaw dropped, his face turning a deep shade of crimson. “W-Wonwoo!”
“What?” Wonwoo said innocently, though the smirk never left his lips. “It’s a logical solution. Another baby might balance things out. Maybe the next one will be a Mama’s Girl.”
Mingyu buried his face in his hands, too flustered to respond. His heart was racing, and he couldn’t stop the image of a second child from forming in his mind—a baby that was a perfect mix of both of them, just like Somi.
Wonwoo chuckled, leaning closer. “Is that a yes?”
Mingyu peeked at him through his fingers, his lips twitching as if he were trying not to smile. “You’re impossible,” he muttered again, but his tone was softer this time, laced with affection.
“I’ll take that as a yes,” Wonwoo said smugly, pulling Mingyu into his arms.
Despite his embarrassment, Mingyu couldn’t help but laugh, wrapping his arms around Wonwoo’s neck. “You’re lucky I love you.”
Wonwoo kissed his temple. “And I love you. And Somi. And, eventually, the next one.”
Mingyu shook his head, his blush deepening, but he couldn’t deny the warmth blooming in his chest at the thought of their family growing.
