Chapter 47: A Drunk and Adorable Wonwoo
The clock ticked past midnight, and Mingyu sat on the living room couch, his arms crossed and a scowl plastered across his face. Wonwoo had gone to a party hosted by one of his high-profile business associates. While Mingyu knew such events were important, he couldn’t help but feel annoyed. It wasn’t like Wonwoo to stay out this late without at least sending a message.
Somi was already fast asleep in her crib, leaving Mingyu alone with his growing frustration.
Just as he was debating whether to call Wonwoo or sulk some more, the sound of a car pulling into the driveway caught his attention. Moments later, the front door opened, and there stood Wonwoo.
He was clearly drunk. His tie was loose, his shirt partially untucked, and his usually sharp eyes were hazy.
“Mingyuuuu,” he drawled, stumbling inside with a goofy grin. “My beautiful, gorgeous husband.”
Mingyu’s frown deepened. “You’re late,” he said, his tone sharp.
Wonwoo blinked, then stumbled toward him, nearly tripping over the rug. “I’m sorry, baby. The party—it was so boring without you. I kept thinking, ‘Where’s my Mingyu? He’d make this so much better.’”
Mingyu opened his mouth to scold him but was interrupted by Wonwoo plopping down on the couch beside him and resting his head on Mingyu’s shoulder.
“You’re so pretty when you’re mad,” Wonwoo slurred, grinning up at him like a lovesick fool. “Do you know how much I love you?”
Mingyu tried to stay angry, he really did, but the sight of his usually composed husband acting so soft and flirty was chipping away at his resolve. “Wonwoo, you’re drunk,” he said, exasperated.
“I’m not drunk,” Wonwoo insisted, his words slightly slurred. “I’m just... full of love. So much love for you.”
Mingyu rolled his eyes, trying to ignore the warmth spreading in his chest.
Wonwoo suddenly sat up straighter, albeit unsteadily, and cupped Mingyu’s face with both hands. “Do you know how lucky I am? I have the most perfect husband. And our baby—she’s so cute because of you. You’re amazing, Mingyu. Amazing.”
Mingyu’s anger melted completely. How could he stay mad when Wonwoo was looking at him like that, like he was the center of the universe?
“You’re impossible,” Mingyu muttered, shaking his head but unable to hide the small smile tugging at his lips.
Wonwoo’s grin widened. “Does that mean you forgive me?”
“Not entirely,” Mingyu teased, crossing his arms again.
“Then I’ll just have to make it up to you,” Wonwoo said, leaning closer. “Starting with...” He trailed off, planting a kiss on Mingyu’s cheek.
Mingyu tried to maintain his composure but failed miserably, a laugh escaping him. “You’re such a dork when you’re drunk.”
“And you love it,” Wonwoo said, his tone playful.
“Unfortunately,” Mingyu replied, rolling his eyes fondly.
Satisfied, Wonwoo leaned against him again, nuzzling into his neck like a content cat. Within minutes, his breathing slowed, and he fell asleep, leaving Mingyu to deal with the aftermath of his drunk antics.
Looking down at his husband, now snoring softly on his shoulder, Mingyu sighed. “You’re lucky you’re cute.”
Adjusting Wonwoo so he could rest more comfortably, Mingyu grabbed a blanket and draped it over them both. As much as he had been angry earlier, moments like these reminded him just how much he loved his goofy, overly affectionate husband—even when he came home late and drunk.
