We were sitting at a table eating our food from Crazy Wings. Mr. Malcolm let us borrow some plates and gave us drinks. Jamal was sitting in between Tonii and Imma. Spenser was next to Jamal, with Andre on his left. I was sitting between Andre and Tonii. Jamal was eating like its no tomorrow.
"You know my parents would go crazy if they know I was eating this stuff." Andre points to his chicken wings and onion rings.
"Why?" Tonii asks while stealing fries from Jamal.
"Because my parents don't think simple food like chicken wings, onion rings, fries, pizza, and sweets is what people who want better out of life eats. They prefer seafood, pate, duck, quail, and foods that are in a small proportion but cost a kidney on the black market. We don't even have deserts in my house because sweets are a distraction from life. I only drink my coffee black with no cream or sugar because its frowned upon" Andre stops talking to see everyone staring at him with wide eyes.
"No offense but your parents are jack a**es. They raised you like you are just another ploy in the business world." Imma says
"I can't believe you've never had sweets. I feel bad for you. You have missed out on cakes and cookies. That's a sad life." Jamal wipes away a fake tear.
"My parents want as little distractions in my life as possible. I always have to walk around like I'm better than everyone. And always think about my image because its what expected of me. Appearance and reputation is important." Andre eyes hold sadness.
"Well now s*it will change." Spenser smiles at Andre.
"How?" Andre is confused.
"Thanks to Sophy introducing you to our crazy circle, we will help you experience the stuff you haven't." Andre looks around the table and we agree with Spenser.
"Spenser is right. All of us may not have thought the best of you after you were rude to Sophia, but its different now." Tonii says while taking a sip of Coke.
"What's different now??" Andre asks Tonii.
"Well you are. Your not some self centered nerd who was rude to my older sister for no reason." Jamal answers.
"Wait you know Andre was the one that was mean to me?" I ask Jamal shocked. He just nods a yes. "How long??"
"I found out they day you cursed him out in the parking out after school. I saw you yelling at him then you drove off. I asked him what it was about and he told me the truth." Andre rubs the back of his neck as Jamal explains.
"And you weren't passed?" Who is this and what have you done with the real Jamal?
"Of course I was. I told him to stay away from you or else. But that all changed the first game of the season. I saw him sitting there with our family and I couldn't get mad. Dad always used to say people deserve second chances if their hearts are pure. I believe his is. He should never have judged you but he has his own personal issues that made him judge you."
"Thanks Jamal." Andre says
"Thank Sophy. She gave you a second chance and so did I. But if you ever hurt her again I will not hesitate to kill you." Jamal smiles while Andre looks scared. We laugh and continue eating. Jamal and Tonii was the dishes while Imma, Andre and I clean off the table we ate on. A red phone rings and Mr. Malcolm answers.
"Hey kids. I got off the emergency phone with the principal. The school is on lockdown because the police were chasing a van and the van ended up in front of house a block over from the school. SO the entire neighborhood is on lockdown. We might be on lockdown until school ends so get comfortable. Its some couches in the other room if you guys want to sit in there. You can turn the TV's on in here if you want. Plus any food you want y'all can have just remember to clean up after yourselves." Mr. Malcolm says and we all nod. He goes to one of the kitchens and begins cooking himself some food.
