 Andre Harris' Point of View

I stretch in my bed fighting the urge to go back to sleep. I get up and fix my blue and black covers on my queen size bed room. I walk into my bathroom that's connected to my bedroom. After taking a shower and brushing my teeth I check my phone to see a text from my dad. My parents won't be home for the weekend because of work. Like always.

My parents are lawyers and run a law firm. Of course they are busy. Too busy to raise their children or know anything about me. When they are around I am always reminded of how I am better than everyone else and what they expect of me. Their expectations for my life are just ridiculous. They want me to be a mini version of them. I just want to be me. But I don't even know the real me is.

Looking around my room makes me smile. Other than the shop its the only place that's a reflection of who I am. Three of the four walls are a medium shade of blue, while the last wall is a light gray. It took 6 months for me to convince my parents to let me decorate my room my way. Before my room was all white with only a bed and desk. That's all my parents said I needed. 'Everything else would be a distraction' they would day. But I got my way and decorated my room myself.

My queen size bed sits in the middle of my room. I have a light brown wood desk that I use for my homework and laptop. My flat screen TV hangs on the wall above my game system area. I have a surround sound system hooked up to my TV and game for the total effect. My blue beats pill sits on the night stand next to my bed. And a mini fridge in my room for snacks.

I walks to my walk-in closet to choose an outfit for today. I decide on a dark green V neck graphic shirt, black shorts and black and green Jordan to match my shirt. After getting dressed I grab my keys and go down stairs. I grab a bottle of water to drink before I leave the house. Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran starts going off in my pocket. I know that ringtone anytime I hear it. Sophia. Every since I heard her signing it in her backyard the day of Jaden's birthday party, it reminds me of her every time I hear it. I answer her phone call.

 'Hey Mia Bella'

'Hey Andre. I didn't wake you did I?' I know she is starting to feel bad cause she thinks she woke me up.

'No. I actually was about to leave my house to go meet someone.'

'Alright. I was calling to make sure you are still going trick or treating with me and Jaden tonight.'

'Of course I'm still going. I'll be at your house around 5. Have a great day and tell everyone I said hello.'

'You have a great day also. Hope you have a fun time with whoever you are meeting. Oh I made Halloween cookies and saved you some. Bye Andre'

 'Bye Sophia.'

I hang up the phone smiling. Sophia's cookies are addicting. She also makes a killer peach cobbler and strawberry cheesecake. I stop daydreaming about her cooking and leave the house. 5 minutes later I park outside of A Little Café. A year ago I would have never thought to stop and go inside of here. Its a small cozy shop, not the big fancy coffee places I'm used to. What changed in that year?? Sophia and her family.

I walk inside the café and see Austin working behind the pastry counter.

"Hey Andre." He calls out once he spots me.

"Hey Austin. Everything good man?" We do our man hug.

"Everything is good. I'm here helping mom like usual. Then later I'm hanging out with Spenser for a Halloween party. What are you doing here"

"I'm actually meeting someone here." I watch as he packages slices of cheesecake to give to a customer.

"Alright. I'll bring over some Caramel Frappes and blueberry lemon scones."
