Beach Day

It's been two weeks since my altercation with Andre and Nicole. The day after I broke her nose, I went and told the Principal what I did. He already heard about it, but he also knew about my family's history so he gave me the rest of the week off from school. I also had to promise not to do it again. Principal Waters from Jaden's school lost her job. Jeremiah told her that she would. Billy has stayed away from Jaden. That's great because I was about to mess this little kid up about my baby brother.

Andre has tried calling me, texting me, he even comes by to visit. I just ignore it all. I don't care if he still hangs out with everyone. I just don't want him around me. Okay I lied. I do want him around me, I just feel like I can't trust him anymore. If I don't trust him what kind of friendship do we have?

I'm pulled out my thoughts by Imma and Tonii signing. Today is Saturday and we are having a Girl's day. We are headed to the beach. And not South Beach either. It gets too crowded. Drunk people act a fool regardless of what time of day it is. We are headed to Malloy Beach. Its big yet a hidden secret unless you get lucky. My parents used to take us here all the time. Now its the place where Imma, Tonii and I go to have fun and clears our minds.

"We're here!!!" Imma yells once Tonii stops the car. We drove Tonii's 2013 dark gray Dodge Durango. I grab the bags next to me in the back seat while Tonii and Imma gets the cooler from the trunk.

"Hey you pick the spot and we will follow you." Imma yells. I nod my head and start walking towards the beach. I smile to the few people that are here and continue walking until I find the perfect spot. The spot is close to the water but we can still see the truck in case anything happens. Today is our perfect idea of a beach day. Its only 74 degrees, a 60% cloud coverage and 5% chance of rain. I know Tonii was happy when she saw the weather today. Tonii hates heat while Imma hates the sun. I put our yellow and white stripped beach blanket down and set up our four red beach umbrellas around the blanket.

"Help!" Tonii says while her and Imma carry the cooler. I help left the cooler to our blanket. We set up the cooler and strip down to our bathing suits. Tonii is wearing a two piece bikini that's red with black stripes. Imma is wearing a black bikini top with yellow bottom. I'm wearing a peach two piece set. The bottom is boy shorts and the top is a halter bikini top that stops 4 inches above my belly button.

"Where the f*ck is my sunblock!!!" Imma is throwing everything out of the bag looking for her sunblock. Me and Tonii just start laughing which makes her madder. "What the hell y'all laughing at?" She is annoyed now.

"Well you're looking through my bag for one. Then your sunblock is in your right hand." I say while sniffling back laughter. Imma looks down in her hand then smiles at me. She lunches herself on me and starts kissing my cheeks.

"You got booty and your smart. See if I went that way I would have been wifed you!!" Imma winks at me before going back to her bag.

"Why do you need sunblock? I thought Hispanics loved getting tans." Tonii questions while applying her own sunblock.

"See if I tanned like a normal Hispanic then yes, but when I tan I turn red. I do not like walking around like a sexy tomato!!!" Imma hands me her sunblock so I can but it on her back.

"Mind doing me next?" I ask and she nods. I give her my back so she can put my sunblock on my back.

"I didn't think African Americans can get tans." Imma rubs my sunblock on my back. Tonii laughs so hard soon she is clutching her sides. Imma shots us the 'what's funny' look.

" We don't tan exactly. We just walk away 7 shades darker than how we arrived. I love my color and want to stay that way. But her,.." Tonii points to me. "she is a milk chocolate brown with notes of red. She will get darker easier. Plus she has sensitive skin." Tonii explains to Imma who nods understandably.
