Andre Harris' Point Of View
It has been two weeks since the dinner at my house. What has happened in those two weeks? My father stopped bothering me about Sophia. My mom got Botox. Apparently seeing Sophia made her realize she isn't as young as she thought. Nicole is still trying to get my attention yet she fears Sophia. I guess when Sophia threatened to shove a fork up her ass, she got the clue that Sophia is not to be messed with. Joseph and I have been rebuilding our brotherly bond and talk everyday. I'm glad my brother and I are closer but one bad thing has happened these past few weeks. Sophia has been ignoring me. When I try to talk to her in school she is distracted. She only sends one word responses when I text her. Every time I ask her what are her plans she just says 'I am busy'.
I feel like my entire situation with my parents have scared her away from me. We are friends but I don't like feeling like she is ignoring me. Tonight is Guys Night and I invited Joseph to meet the guys. After driving for 20 minutes I approve outside of Max's Pool Hall. Standing inside, I look around until I spot Jamal, Austin and Spenser in the back.
"What's up guys?" I bump fist with them.
"Uncle Mike and Jeremiah should be here in a little while." Jamal says as he hands me a pool stick.
"Alright. Joseph should be here soon also." I respond but my mind wonders to other stuff. Mainly Sophia. I zone out for a few seconds.
Jamal is in front of me waving his hands. "Dude!! We are talking to you!!" Spenser says from the other side of the table.
"My bad I kind of zoned out." I rub the back of my neck embarrassed.
"I said we are playing teams. Spenser and me against you and Austin." Jamal says as he sets the balls up. I just nod in response. Spenser takes the first shot and no ball goes in so Austin shots for our team and we end up being stripes.
"You have been zoning out a lot lately. What's up with you." Jamal questions as I take a shot.
"Nothing." I say while Spenser and Austin say "Sophia" at the same time. It caused me to miss the ball completely.
"You're zoning out over my sister? I knew you had it bad but I didn't know it was THIS BAD." Jamal laughs at me.
"I don't have it bad for Sophia." I say in my own defense.
"LIAR!" Some people yell from behind me. I turn around and come face to face with Uncle Mike, Jeremiah, and Joseph.
"Everyone this is my older brother Joseph. Joseph this is Spenser, Austin, Sophia's older brother Jeremiah, Her young brother Jamal, and their Uncle Mike." I introduce him to everyone and they shake hands. Uncle Mike, Jeremiah, and Joseph sit at a near by table while we continue playing pool.
"Still in denial about your feelings for my sister?" Jeremiah says while drinking some of his soda.
"Yes he is." Everyone answers before I can say anything.
"I'm not in denial." Right?
"Have you told her that you like her?" Joseph asks.
"No I haven't." I take a shot making my ball go in so I take another until I miss on the third shot.
"What's stopping you?" Austin asks.
"I don't even know if I like her." I admit.
"Little brother you are stupid!" Joseph says.
"How?" I ask
"You know you have feeling for Sophia. You are just in denial." Joseph shakes his head at me.
