Best friends are life savers. They hold your secrets. Watch you make mistakes but never hold them over you're head. See you in the darkest part of your life, but only tell you that it will make you stronger in the end. Hold your hand when you get scared to face certain situations. One thing they never let you do is go through things feeling alone. This is why I have Imma and Tonii. They are crazy as shizz but I know I can always count on them. I know I can trust them to be completely honest with me. They won't sugarcoat it but will tell me how it really is.

"I don't think I can go through with it." I watch Tonii pace my room floor. She broke into my house at 10am now its 12pm. Exactly 1 hour from the time she is supposed to met up with her mom. She is going through the emotions of a girl being abandoned by her mother 10 years ago. Me, being the best friend that I am, is here to listen to here and help her out. I'm sitting up on my king size bed thinks of ways to calm her down. My hair is sticking up in every direction. My Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles pajama pants are twisted. And I am missing a sock. But nothing else matters because Tonii needs me.

"Tonii Marisa Baxter!" Hearing her name makes her stop in her tracks. No one, I mean no one calls Tonii by her name.

"Did you just call me by my government name?"

"Yes I did now come sit next to me." She sits down on my bed and I turn to her. "Tell me what's wrong?"

She takes a deep breath before speaking. "I am scared of seeing someone who just left like our family didn't mean s*it to her."

I place my hands over hers for comfort. "You are not the little girl you were 10 years ago. You're a beautiful young lady. You plan on going to college to become a Pediatric Nurse. You are stronger than you give yourself credit for. You have no reason to be scared. Nothing she can ever say will forgive what she has done. She left you. She could have handled it a lot better than she did, but she didn't. She broke you into pieces and left everyone to deal with it. Your father and Ms. Carol were there to pick up the pieces. Imma and I were there helping also. You have no reason to be scared. Just go and say your peace so you can close that painful book in your life." I wipe away the tears that fell on her face.

"Will you go with me?" She asks out of breath from crying.

"Of course. I will be anywhere you need me." I give her a hug before going to get dress. I choose a red tank top and black skinny jeans with red flats. I put my hair up in a ponytail and put on some lip gloss.

"You're wearing the outfit I got you for your birthday last year." Tonii smiles at my choice of clothes.

"I hoped it would give you some comfort. Plus I love this outfit. Ready to face your past?"

"With you by my side? Of course." And with that we left my house and head to Matt's Diner. Tonii loves this diner so much. Its where her father took her after her mom left. Her dad met Ms. Carol here. They even had their wedding reception here. I drove my car since Tonii walked all the way to my house. That's a 40 minute walk in Miami's hot sun. She the real MVP. I find a parking spot and we go inside. We both scan the diner looking for her mother.

"There she is." I follow Tonii's gaze and I spot her. After 10 years she looks the same. Only now her once black hair is a medium brown and she has some wrinkle lines. I grab Tonii's hand and heads her over to her mother. Her mother spots us and starts smiling as she stand up to met us.

"I didn't think you would show up." She scans Tonii head to toe before looking over to me. "Sophia Taylor?? Is that you?"

"Yes ma'am. Its me." She steps closer to hug me only so I can give her my hand to shake. No way in hell you leave my best friend for 10 years and expect a hug.
