Day 10

"Sorry, I don't know why he's behaving like this. I tried to talk to him about you, but he says he doesn't want anything to do with you anymore. I'm so sorry," said Yeona, taking Yujus hand sympathetically. She only nodded; somehow, it was to be expected.

"But when he woke up, what happened? And how did he come to the conclusion that he doesn't like me anymore?" Yuju wanted to know. She looked impatiently at the 1.73 cm tall girl, who hesitated.

"I was next to him when he woke up. It took him a few hours to think clearly. And then he said that you should never show your face to him again," said Yeona.

Yuju looked at the floor with tears in her eyes. It hurt, it hurt too much. Her heart ached, not because of her illness but because of love. She wiped the tears from her face and looked at Yeona:

"Please take very good care of him"

"I don't know what I did wrong, but I want him to be okay"

"If he wants to see me, please let me know"

"I want him to feel loved"

Yeona nodded many times and looked at Yuju impatiently. They were standing in the middle of the hospital, just so Heeseung wouldn't see them.

"How is he actually?" Yuju asked. She could imagine how hard it must be for him now to have to sit in a wheelchair for a few weeks. It broke her heart that she couldn't help him.

Yeona put both her hands into her skirt pockets.

"He's doing okay so far, I'm trying to take care of him. We spend all day together, eating, watching TV, or talking," she said. Yuju smiled. But her heart hurt, knowing she couldn't be in Yeona's place.

She said goodbye and went into the elevator. She stepped inside, and many people came in, whom she didn't notice because her thoughts were somewhere else entirely.

The elevator doors opened and she walked out. Suddenly, her heart started to hurt. She placed her hand on the spot and squeezed her eyes shut. Her heart hadn't hurt this much in the past few months.

Yuju tried to keep walking, but the pain grew stronger. She didn't see that doctors were rushing toward her in the hallway with an injured person on a hospital bed until someone pulled her back.

It was those hands again.

Those hands that were strong and warm.

Those hands that made her heart beat faster with every touch.

With tearful eyes from shock and pain, she looked at him. He had pulled her onto himself onto the wheelchair and wrapped his arms tightly around her waist. It felt as if he was holding her pain.

But his gaze was the same as a few days ago. He looked at her coldly and angrily, but she could also see sadness. Sadness that was hard to see in him—only when he loved someone.

"Hee-Hee-Heeseung," Yuju stuttered, but a stab in her heart pulled her into the darkness.

Day 13

"And he didn't visit me even once?" Yuju asked her friends. She was sitting on her hospital bed, as she had suffered a heart attack three days ago, which had left her weak for three days.

"Not once," Jungwon murmured. Yuju lowered her head. She felt like crying again.

Garam ran her hand through her hair in disbelief.

"What kind of idiot is he?!" she cursed, pacing back and forth in the room. She was very worried about her best friend. It hurt her to see her suffer like this, and on top of that, she didn't know what was going on with her stepbrother. Yeona wasn't letting any of them in.

"You have to try talking to him in a different way," Yedam suggested. Yuju didn't understand, but Sunghoon and Riki nodded.

"How about you write him a letter every day? He'll get one every day and read it, then he'll only think about you and maybe then open his mouth and say what his problem is," said Riki, and all the others nodded.

Day 14

Heeseung,

how are you?

I'm writing a letter for the first time to someone, I can be happy that you're the one.

Today I managed to eat a full meal, I couldn't do that since you had that accident, because it was hard for me to eat without thinking about you.

You are very important to me, the most important person in this world.

I love you, truly.

But why are you treating me like this?

What did I do wrong?

I'm sorry that you had a car accident because of me, since you were driving to me.

If that's the reason, then please let me know.

Please talk to me

Day 15

Heeseung,

did you get my letter yesterday?

I hope so, because you need to know that I will now write to you every day until you come to me.

It hurts to think about how badly you must be doing now in the wheelchair.

I would have never imagined you there, but life can never be perfect.

That's why I want to tell you that we have to overcome obstacles together.

Please give me a sign that you've read this letter.

Day 30

Heeseung,

why aren't you answering?

This is now the 16th letter.

I hope you're receiving the letters.

I heard that you don't have to sit in a wheelchair anymore, but are already allowed to walk.

So can you please come to me?

I want to talk to you, I want to find a solution.

You can despise me afterward, but I want to know why you're behaving like this.

Yuju sat quietly in front of her tea and stared at it. She hoped to see Heeseung in her reflection in the tea. But miracles don't happen.

Suddenly, she heard a ringing. It could be one of her friends checking on her to see if she was still alive.

Tired, Yuju opened the door—but saw the person she least expected to see.

Heeseung.

Suddenly, he stepped into her apartment and pulled her into a hug. Their bodies were in sync again, and Yuju felt his warmth.

Tears of joy ran down her face. Her heart pounded wildly against her chest, and she felt life rising within her again.

"I'm so sorry," Heeseung sobbed. Yuju stroked his cheeks and looked into his face.

"Now no one will be able to separate us, we are together," he said, placing his lips on hers. It felt like a dream.
