Practice

"Just come watch me practice. You've gotta get out of the house." Brett speaks softly to me. His hand was on my cheek and I was looking at my lap but he lifted my head up so my gaze could meet his. "Please?" He whispers and gives me the pouty face. I sighed and nodded. I small smile appeared on his face. He kissed my forehead and pulled away. "Get dressed."

I get out of bed and quickly put on an outfit which was a pair of light wash, high waisted shorts and a vans muscle tee. I slipped on my vans and quickly put on my makeup then put my hair in a ponytail.

"While I'm at practice, I need you to watch my cousin okay? He's 11 and his name is Gabe. He's shy at first but once you get to talk to him, he'll come out of his shell." Brett explains as we walk down the stairs and out the front door.

"Okay, it should be fine. I'm good with kids anyway." I mumbled. I didn't mind taking care of a kid as Brett practiced. "Well where is he?"

"He's in the car."

"Brett. You seriously left your 11 year old cousin in the car? That's dangerous, he could die."

"He told me he wouldn't tell his mom." He shrugs and I slap his arm. "He said he was scared okay? That's why I came straight in. Plus it's running."

We got the the car and he opened my door for me. I smiled and sat inside my seat buckling my seatbelt. He closed my door then ran to his and got inside.

"Gabe, this is Addilyn, my girlfriend, she'll be watching you while I practice, Addilyn this is Gabe, my cousin." Brett introduced us. I stuck my hand out smiling at him as he sent me a small one.

"Hi Gabe." He put his hand out and shook mine.

"Hi Addilyn." He smiled at me.

"What are you playing?" I questioned looking at him as Brett began to pull out of my driveway.

"Minecraft." He mumbles, turning his gaze back on his game.

"I've never played Minecraft."

"I don't approve of her Brett." Gabe says and my jaw drops and Brett let's out a laugh.

"Well whether you like it or not buddy we're going to be together for a long time. I like her and I'm not letting her go." Brett says looking in the rear view mirror as he drove.

"Well in that case I've got some teaching to do." Gabe mumbles and I laugh.

"I'd like that." I nodded and he kept playing his game as I turned back around in my seat. Brett grabbed my hand and kissed each knuckle then our hands laid combined in my lap.

We continued to drive until we had finally reached the school. We all got out and made our way up to the field.

"I'm gonna go get ready, I'll be out in like five minutes." I nod and he leans down kissing my lips. He then turns towards Gabe and gets down to his height. "I'll be back in five minutes. You stay with Addilyn at all times okay? If you need anything just ask her and she'll help you out, okay?" He asked Gabe. Gabe nodded and continued playing his game. He stands up straight and looks down at me. "He's playing his video game so he should be good. I'll be back." He kisses me one last time before walking to the locker rooms.

"Come on, let's go sit down." I told Gabe and he nodded and followed behind me. "Where do you wanna sit? You pick." His head shot up and he looked at the bleachers. He pointed to the top and I let him lead the way. We walked up the stairs and he walked to a few rows down from the top and we sat in the middle. I played around on my phone until I heard footsteps landing on the metal bleachers. I saw Brett climbing up the stairs and I smiled as he walked to the row infront of us.

"Practice starts in a couple minutes, but I came to hand you these," he hands me his car keys. "If he wants a snack there's a store up the road. My wallet is in the center console." He intructs and I nod. "Also, Stiles is coming up to sit with you. If you go to the store, you take Stiles with you." I nodded yet again and saw Stiles walking up the bleachers. I began to feel nervous as to what he has to say to me about all of it. I was hoping he'd not talk about anything and just carry on a normal conversation about pizza or something. "Hey, he's not gonna say anything. Scott's here too along with everyone else. I can't guarantee that they'll leave you alone because you've been in your room for weeks. I told them that if they come up to you that they need to be gentle." He says looking into my eyes.

"Thanks." I gulped and he nodded his head. We began to hear talking as the team made their way onto the field.

"I gotta go, practice is only a couple hours today so it'll go by quick." He tells me. "Gabe, be good and listen to Addilyn." Brett says and Gabe just gives him a thumbs up then continues his game. He kisses my lips then rubs my cheek with his thumb as he stared at me. "I'll be back."

"Okay." I whispered and he walked off and to the field.

"You two are so cute, it's disqusting."

"Hi Stiles." I smiled up at him as he walked down the bleachers and sat next to me.

"Hi Addie." He smiles back at me. "How have you been?" He mumbles looking at his lap.

"I've been okay. I started eating again." I said watching as the lacrosse team began to do stretches.

"That's awesome! I was beginning to worry about you." He says looking at me.

"I've been getting better. I just need a little bit more time to fully recover I guess. Well... I don't want to say recover because I don't think I could ever recover from it. It's just hard to explain."

Talking about it wasn't as bad as I thought. Maybe that's what I needed to do, was talk to someone.

"No one can fully recover after something so tragic."

"Yeah, I mean there's things I regret, things I wish would've happened, things I wish would've been said, but at the end of the day I keep thinking that those things didn't happen for a reason. Everything happens for a reason, whether something does happen or nothing at all." I spoke. Stiles nodded and looked back at me.

"You're absolutely right." He says and we sit in silence for a couple minutes. "You know Scott's been dying to talk to you. He regrets everything he did, everything he said. He's been going insane not talking to you or even looking at you. He's your brother Addie, you've got to talk to him eventually."

"I know," I sighed shaking my head. "I'm just really scared." I shrugged.

"Understandable. You know Brett will always be there for you, so will I along with everyone else. There's someone though that misses you just as much as Scott though." Stiles tells me and I furrow my eyebrows. He points down and I see Skylar looking up my way. She had a frown on her face and it made my heart break.

"I don't know if I'm ready." I whispered looking down at my lap.

"She's your best friend Addilyn." He says to me. I see him waving her over and I freeze my heart beat getting faster. Her eyes widened and I looked out to see Brett staring at me with a worried look on his face.

"Are you okay?" He mouthed. I nodded and looked down for the hundredth time. She sat infront of us where Brett had stood earlier and I gulped looking at her.

"Hey Addie." She breathes and I take a deep breath.
