"Good luck, baby." Brett smiles over at me as I go to get out of his car. I had a job interview today, and since Brett stayed the night last night he said he'd drive me. Scott had gotten his job at a store in the mall and I had a job interview at a music shop a little down the street from our house.
"Thanks." I returned the smile. He leaned over the console and puckered his lips.
"One more good luck kiss." He says and I giggle shaking my head. I leaned over and kissed his lips one last time. When we pulled apart he smiled over at me and it was the type of smile id never seen before. "I'll be here when you get done okay? I'm gonna park but text me when you're done." I nod and get out of his car. I take a deep breath before walking inside. I looked around and saw a man standing behind the counter. He looked up as I walked inside and kept looking around.
"Addilyn McCall?" He questions and I nod. "Brad Johnson," he walks around his the counter and over to me. He sticks his hand out towards me and I shake it. "Alright, let's go to my office and have the interview." He smiles and I return it nodding. I was nervous, so nervous. My phone vibrated and I pulled it out.
Take deep breaths and calm down, I hear your heartbeating a mile a minute all the way out here.
I took a deep breath and texted him back.
I'm trying, I'm just really nervous.
"Julie, take over the counter. I've got a job interview." He says to a girl who was restocking the cd's onto the stands. She gives him a thumbs up not looking up from what she was doing. My phone vibrated again and I unlocked it, reading the text.
You've got this. Don't stress over it. They'd be stupid not to give you this job, or anyone would be stupid not to give you any. You're very smart baby, just keep taking deep breaths and it'll all be okay.
I smiled at his text and told him okay but I had to go because we were about to have the interview. I tucked my phone in the back pocket of my skinny jeans as we walked into his office. We sat down and he pulled out my job application.
"So how are you today?" Brad asks.
"I'm a bit nervous, to be honest. What about you?"
"I'm doing very well, thank you." He smiles at me. "So it says on your application that this is your first job application, which means that you've never had a job before?" He asks looking up at me.
"No sir," I shake my head. "Uhm my brother and I are on our own now so he got a job so I thought why not I get a job too? It'll help pay the bills, I can get my own car." I explained and he nodded.
"Are you good with music?" He asks and I laugh.
"All I do is listen to music, always looking for new album that I haven't already listened too." He smiled nodding.
"How is school going? What are your grades?"
"School is good. I'm a straight A student, I actually have my report card with me." I said and looked inside my purse. I pulled it out and handed it to him. He looked at it with a smile and nodded.
"Very good, 17 years old and you've already got a 4.0 GPA, and is taking college classes, that's very nice work, well done." He compliments and I nod my head thanking him.
"Thank you so much." I smiled.
"Uhm, I hate to ask and if the question bothers you, you don't have to answer," I nod my head for him to continue. "You said that you're brother and yourself are on your own, what do you mean?"
"Oh, about a month and a half ago, my parents went on a business trip to Florida, when they came back, they were flying through Arizona and hit a mountain. Everyone on that plane,"
"Had died." I continued but he helped finish the sentence.
"I know, my sister was on that plane as well. I'm sorry for your loss." He gave me a weak smile.
"It's alright, they weren't the best people to be around." I half laughed, rubbing my hands together.
"Well, they definitely raised a very smart, respectful young woman." He smiles at me. "You've got the job." He says and I gasp my eyes widening.
"Seriously?" I asked and he nodded smiling at me. "Thank you so much, you won't regret it."
"You start Monday. There's no uniforms, wear whatever you please. Be here at 8am." I nod and walk out of his office. I text Brett to tell him that I was done. Once I get outside he was already waiting for me, he was leaning up against car. He pushed himself off and I jogged over to him with a grin on my face. I wrapped my arms around his neck squealing as he spun me around.
"I got it, I got it, I got it!" I shrieked into his shoulder and he chuckles at me. He set me down and kissed my lips.
"I told you! They'd be stupid not too." He says and I smile. "Let's go, I'll buy lunch and we can celebrate." He kissed my cheek and I climb into his car. He shuts my door as I buckle up and he climbs inside the drivers seat and he began to drive off. "So when do you start?"
"Monday, I've already put in my application at school for getting my classes switched up for when I work." I explained. He grabbed my hand and kissed my knuckles, which he tends to do that a lot but I don't mind at all. I loved it.
"I'm so proud of you." He looks over at me and I smile. "I mean, I know you could do it, there's no doubting that but I really am proud of you." He says and I kiss his cheek.
"Thank you." He looked over at me as we stopped at a red light.
"For what?" He asked and I sighed.
"Everything I guess." I shrugged, shaking my head. "You've always been there for me, ever since we met. You've believed in me, and you're always there for me and for that, I'm thankful." I looked into his eyes and he smiled. He leaned over and pressed him lips to mine.
