Chapter 15

My heart leapt as I heard foot steps behind me. I ran into a hollow log. What I stupid place to hide. I ran out desperately looking for somewhere to go. What if I just run, run and run. There was no time. I ran another way making foot prints in the snow then I jumped on pieces of bark back. I will dis lead them. I dug my nails into a wet tree. I pulled my legs up behind me.
"Ah", I said trying to be quiet. My whole nail was pulled off. Yuck it was stuck in the tree as I climbed.
"That girl my wife! She must be here!", said a grumpy man in the distance. I ducked my head behind the tree.
That must be Hugo! It feels like it's been 2 years but it's been 6 weeks since Rebecca died and I've been out here.
"Yes I believe she would, but she is coming with me I want her!", I heard an unfamiliar voice.
"No! She's my kid I raised my she's mine!!!", I heard.
I heart sank. It's my dad.... Why should I call him that his not my dad!
I quickly crawled up the tree without a sound.
Theeww I'm finally high up on a safe branch. Wait maybe I can go higher. I pulled my self up a few more branches. The branches are so close together it's easy. One more step. I looked out above the leaves. I was over all the trees in this forest. The Sky!! I haven't see the sky for a while. I wish it was sunny. It's a wet gloomy day though. The clouds seem to hang low. I would only see one over thing. Just trees and after that more trees. Wait oh my gosh smoke! Who would live out here?
"Ki Ki!", I yelled
I clasped my hand over my mouth.
"Hey I found think I heard someone!", I heard dad say. "I think she's in the trees!,
"let's try this one.", said Hugo.
The tree started shaking violently.
"Wo" my feet lost grip. I was hanging by three fingers over nothing.
"Ahhhhhhhhh", my hand slipped off the wet branch.
"Ow!!!!!", MY BACK! I landed on my branch across my back. Sharp pain whooshed up and down my spine. Everything was fading out.
"No wake up Lin!", I said to myself. I sat up. My back wasn't broken. That was lucky.
"Hey I see a bare foot!", someone yelled.
"I think it's her!", said someone else.
*Slap "duh!!! Who else would it be!
What do I do there are no branches I can get to!!! My heart was in my throat. What do I do!
"Well, it could be me!", I heard a familiar voice say.
"Ahh", I heard the group of people hunting me yell. Then I heard them running and some people fall over.
What who is that why would they help me how did why scare them?
I monkey swang upside down so i could see where the people had been. My legs are wrapped around the branch above me like what people did on the swing set at school. Blood was rushing to my brain but I ignored it. My hair is so long now, so knotted and overgrown it could almost touch forest floor from here. It's about up to my thighs.
"Hu!", I said shocked. A face appeared straight in front of me. My eyes slowly adjusted. They were damaged from when I was electrocuted. My nerves where damaged but they got better after a while. My eyes widened, has I saw who it was. She smiled at me.
I smiled back.
"Anhh", I fell from the tree onto my back. I was so astonished!
She put her hand out to me but I was to fast. I leaped into her arms.
"I'm so happy to see you sis!"
