A crunching sound pulls me out of the conversation with Lily just in time to see a bright orange car head straight into the barriers. A collective gasp goes up around the garage and then the  murmuring starts. I gaze whips around the room, trying to find anyone that could tell me who had crashed. My heart drops as Lando's car falls down the order, stopping at the bottom.

"Lando, are you okay?" Will's voice rang through the garage as we waited for the reply. "Repeat, Lando, are you okay?"

I felt Lily's fingers wrap around mine as our gaze stayed trained on the TV, waiting for a reply. Jon bolted out of his seat as soon as the car had hit the wall, running past me at a furious speed.

"Ugh, fuck." His voice rang out across the speakers making everyone breathe a sigh of relief. "Fucking Max. Couldn't wait the corner, could he?"

A tap on my shoulder made me turn around quickly. Jon stood there, motioning me over with his hand. I squeezed Lily's hand in a quick goodbye then followed the very speedyJon out of the home, hoping to God that Lando was okay. He had to be.

The car looked absolutely destroyed with the front wing and part of the car completely blown off. It looked like Max had forced him off then Lando's tires couldn't keep and so he went straight into the barrier. I could barely pay any attention to the race because of the cameras constantly being pushed into my face while I stood still, trying to watch the race. Lily had pulled me right to the back where you could see the TV but were mostly out of sight of the cameras. I understood, they were just trying to do their job but it was bloody annoying.

I followed Jon down into the hospitality centre, blindly as I tried not to worry about Lando. I couldn't help it though. He was doing so well, having gotten Pole in qualifying and managing to keep it throughout the race so far. It seems the team underestimated how far the tires could actually go.

Stopped at an open door, Jon rattled of what would happen. "You need to stay in here and wait for him because he'll need a checkup, but I know he would want to see you first."

I smiled and thanked him, watching him run back down the hallway, back to his seat at the garage. I turned the TV in the room on just in time to see Lily's worried face pop up and commentary about why I had left so quickly. The camera changed to Lando walking slowly down the pit lane with people following him. His helmet was still on and his gloves tight in his fist.

"Fuck." I mutter and watch as the cars start to go around once more.

Lando hadn't appeared since he had tried to talk to me and was pulled away by Jon. I had called his phone a couple of times, but no one answered. Radio silence. I'm  really worried, I wasn't gonna fake it. He had looked like a mess when I saw him for a brief second in passing, blood shot eyes, messy hair and shoulder hunched over.

It was late now, getting to the point that I knew he wasn't coming back tonight. I sent one last text saying, 'please text me, I'm worried about you and what you're doing.' Resting my head, I stared at the ceiling before sleep took over.

My eyes flew open as a bang on the hotel door disrupted my sleep. Rolling to the side, I glanced at my phone for the time. 2.34 AM. Fuuuuuuck.

"Jennifer?" A tired sounding voice called from the door. "Baby, I'm sorry."

My eyes shot open as soon as I heard his voice. "Lando?" My feet ran me to the door, opening the door with such force I didn't know I had. "Oh fuck, Lando!" I threw my hands around his neck, basically jumping at him and expecting him to hold me.

His arms wrapped around me as slowly as possibly, careful to keep me close but not close enough. Like he was keeping me away but still wanting to hold me.
