Seetha

How could it even be hard?

How... how could I get wet there?

What was he trying to say?

Oru velai moola kolambiruchaa?

(Is he got crazy?)

Because, how is that even possible?

"Seetha..."

What exactly is he going to teach me tomorrow in college?

Was he talking about the meaning of wet and hard, or was it just the Python task?

Aiyooo!

But, I was pulled out of my spiraling thoughts by a sharp pain in my shoulder. I turned around, startled, only to find Amma glaring at me as she pushed me aside and scolded me for something.

Then, my eyes widened, and my mouth fell open in shock when I noticed the dosa tawa with a burnt, blackened dosa.

I gulped, nervously shifting my gaze to Amma, who yelled,

"Veliya podi modha! Unna dosa suda sonnen paaru enna sollanum! Apdi enna dha nenapula iruppiyo therila! Saaingaalam fullaa thoonga vendiyadhu! Oru velayum seiradhu illa! Senjaalum oru vishyamaadhu urupadiyaa seiriyaa?"

(Get out first! I asked you to make dosa, and look at what you have done! I don't know what's going on in your mind! You had slept the entire evening! Not doing any work! Even if you do, will you do it properly?)

Lowering my head, I quickly wiped my sweaty palms on the track pants I was wearing and hurried out of the kitchen, escaping her wrath. I flopped onto the living room couch beside Appa, who saw me with a warm smile.

I pouted, looking down in embarrassment, but he chuckled softly and said,

"Vidu, paapa. Amma dhaane?"

(Leave it, dear. It's just your mom, right?)

I smiled at him but I thought to myself,

Amma illa, pa. Professor. Avaa senja vela dha ellam.

(Not mom, dad. It's the professor. He's the one who did everything)

Twisting my lips in frustration, I shifted my gaze to the TV, which was playing some random Vijay TV serial. Appa was watching it with great interest, his eyes glued to the screen.
