Hello 😀

Vaanga vaanga story kulla polaa 🚴🏻‍♀️💜🦋

*********

Aayush

We really came a long way. Together.

One fine morning, the whole house smelled of jasmine and fresh turmeric.

My mother-in-law was running around arranging flowers; mama checked if everything was ready; appa was making sure the trays of bangles were perfectly set.

And I stood near the doorway, wearing a cream kurta. My eyes kept finding her, my wife, and every time, I'd smile, she smile shyly and lower her head making me chuckle.

It had been seven months.

Roughly two more months left to have our little baby in our hands.

Two more months for my first baby to go through her first delivery.

One by one, everyone started filling my in-laws' home, and began making her wear the colorful bangles, tracing the turmeric paste over her cheeks, on the backs of her palms - and blessing her and our baby in her womb wholeheartedly.

In that moment, nothing mattered to me more than the glow on her face and the wide smile on her lips. Her little laughs in between - I heard only them, as if the world around us faded away.

She completely enveloped me. I hadn't even blinked.

Silently, I kept thanking her, blessing her, wishing her every happiness this world could give.

As she said, and as she wished, she made me. She filled my eyes - once crowded with yearnings and unspoken wishes - and now, they're completely fulfilled by her love, by everything she is.

She changed me. She changed my everything.

But I jerked slightly, feeling a slight pat on my thigh, looked down and smiled seeing the person,

"Hey Abhinav!"

I immediately scooped him into my arms and kissed his cheek. He kissed my cheek back and asked,

"Mama.. neenga enna koopda varave illa"

(Uncle, you didn't even come to get me here)

I pressed my lips together, remembering that I had promised him we'd meet once more when they planned for a family trip. Then I smiled at him, saying,

"Naan koopda dha varla. Aana nee dha mama kitta vandhuttiye? Un appa kitta naan ketten unna koopda varattumaa'nu, aana unga appa dha naangale kooptu varom'nu solleetaanga"

(I really was going to come and take you here. But see, you already came to your uncle. I asked your dad if I could come and take you, but your dad himself said, 'We'll bring him along')

"Apdiyaa?"

(Really?)

"Aama, da. Unga ath.. maami paaru.. azhaga irukkaanga'le?"

(Yes, dear. See your aunt there.. isn't she beautiful?)

I asked, trying to divert the topic. And he looked at her, saying in his little voice,

"En maami eppavume azhagu dha, mama"

(My aunt is always beautiful, uncle)

I chuckled, kissing his cheek once more, charmed by his baby tone.

Then I heard,

"Aayush, inga vaa.."

(Aayush, come here..)
