I watched the screen horrified at the sight of my mother. There was a gun smashed against her head which made me jump back a little, trying to hide my tears with my hand. I was completely helpless I mean, it wasn't like I could jump into the t.v screen and help my mom. All I could do was watch the horrendous situation in front of me. I felt like my chest was on fire as I held my breath frightened.

"Do you know where he is?" A gruff voice growled at my mother.

"For the last time... no I don't" My moms voice was hoarse and scratchy, as if she had been crying. Her eyes were baggy and her skin was just as pale as a ghost. The shotgun was slammed against her head, and this made her wince in pain as she hit the floor.

I felt my lip trembling as I continued to watch the video. Goosebumps has formed across my arms and I was frozen in place. I bit my lip as I heard the same gruff voice speak once again."Where is he?" The question was once again asked and I felt tears welling in my eyes as my mom shook her head from side to side.

Her emerald green eyes were dull, broken down, but when you looked past that you could see the innocence, she really had no idea where my father was. "I-I don't know." She cried.

Before anything, I heard a loud gunshot that Pierced through the t.v screen. My moms body went limp, and there was a gash of blood soaking through her dirty blonde hair. Soon, she was lying in a puddle of her own blood before the screen went completely black. I couldn't hold my tears back any longer, a yelp escaped my lungs. I then noticed all the other eyes watching me symphetictly. But mostly what I noticed was two girls in the back snickering, Sarah and Delia. I grabbed ahold of the door knob, and ran out of the classroom with tears streaming across my face.

I ran through the dull halls, just trying to find the school exit. Everything was a blur in my eyes as I continued to run past bunches of lockers and concrete walls that entangled with my sense of direction.

But, suddenly I ran past the area at which there was one single water fountain surrounded by to public restrooms. I heard a voice. "Destiny?" Matt questioned, meeting my eyes, which made me stop and keep his gaze for maybe a second or two. Before I shook my head hysterically crying my eyes out. I mean could you blame me, I'd just watched my own mother's death. So at this point I continued to run away from everything.

I found the latch that I had entered school through this morning. Pushing the heavy metal of it forward, swinging it so that It wouldn't fall on my head as I climbed out. I then grabbed ahold of the handle, and climbed up the wall beside it so that I could leave this death hole I called school. I heard quick feet running after me through the hall. I didn't care, I needed to go home. I didn't feel good, I was nauseous and tired. I did not want to be there.

School was the last thing I needed that moment with my spinning head as I raced my way out of the school. I kicked the latch down and sprinted across the grass to the concrete area near the fenced army base. But, shortly after a hand wrapped tightly around my wrist and pulled me back. Matt was panting from running after me, which was unusual because he was such a better runner than me.

"You need to calm down." He panted in between breaths. My eyes were still watery and he obviously noticed that. "What happened?"He gave me a weary look.

"M-my mom, sh-she's-" I couldn't finish my sentence because I bursted out into a heart wrenching sob. Matt didn't say anything just pulled me into his chest, and allowed me to cry into his shirt while I wrapped my arms around him tightly. He rocked me back and forth while rubbing my back comfortingly.

"Let's get you home." He whispered.

Suddenly I realized one thing, I couldn't let Katrina see me like this. My heart dropped for her. "No I can't." I whispered, my voice still hoarse and dry. Matt gave me a worried glance. "Katrina, I don't want her to know just yet."
