Chapter 23: The Architect

Y/N POV: 

Things had changed at Rainbow ever since Nighthaven left, we weren't very fond of Nighthaven in the first place, but now, they were considered an enemy. It's all because of a new operator we had brought in called Azami. She had contacted Yumiko after the person that she was providing security for got assassinated. Apparently, some shell casings were found on the scene that had QCR markings on them. This is bad enough, but it got a whole lot worse when we sent a team to go and investigate the scene of the assassination, and they came back saying they were attacked by an unknown helicopter. Although nothing could be confirmed, everyone was pretty sure Nighthaven had something to do with this. There were also some new teams formed in Rainbow, they were called Wolfgaurd, Ghosteyes, Viperstrike, and Redhammer. From my understanding, it wasn't like they were dividing us up but rather forming groups of operators with similar specialties that they could call on whenever needed. At least that's how it was advertised. A lot of people had been assigned squads, only me and a few others haven't gotten assigned anywhere yet. Even Nokk had gotten assigned by now, who I was sitting on the couch with watching Breaking Bad. 

Nokk: You want me to get some more popcorn?

Y/N: Yeah sure! 

Nokk: Do you want the butter or the kettle corn?

Y/N: Definitely butter

She then got up and went over to the microwave to make some more popcorn, once it was done, she came back over with the popcorn bowl and snuggled next to me on the couch as we continued to watch our show. We were then interrupted by a rapid nokking at our door. 

Y/N: Ugh, I'll go get it.

Nokk: Alright.

Nokk let me get up and put her veil on as I made my way to the door. When I opened it, I was met with one of the nurses from the med bay.

Nurse: Warlord, you are needed at the med bay ASAP, get your scrubs on.

Y/N: Okay, thank you.

She then walked away, and I closed the door. I then went over to my wardrobe and grabbed my scrubs are started putting them on.

Nokk: Well... see you when you are done, I guess!

Y/N: Yeah, I promise we will watch the show later.

Nokk: Alright, see you later. 

She then took off her veil and kissed me before I went out the door. I made my way to the med bay where the nurse that came to get me was waiting for me. 

Nurse: Wow your fast, we are supposed to meet them outside at the helipad, let's go.

She then grabbed a gurney, and we went outside to the helipad. We waited for about three minutes until we heard the helicopter and could see it in the distance in the orange dusk sky. We watched it closer and closer until we were getting blasted by the rotor wash as it landed. Once it touched the ground, Doc, Lion, Thunderbird, and Montagne rushed out of the helicopter carrying someone with a huge gash on their forehead and a tourniquet around their leg. They set him down on the gurney and we started moving him towards the building. I had so many questions about what's going on, but for right now I had to focus on the task at hand. 

Y/N: What's the situation?

Doc: We rescued him from a group of militants, he was tied to a chair and was being interrogated. He had the gash already when we got to him, and he got struck by a bullet in the thigh when we were ambushed while driving to the extraction point.
