FORKS, WASHINGTON: MARCH 2005

WINTER FADED into spring as the last of the frost receded from the ground and the air of Forks lost its icy chill. It didn't hinder the rain from falling nor did a sudden sun warm up the town. However, it made the weather more tolerable, and less depressing from usual, so Astrid enjoyed the change. The blonde girl could tell that her fellow students did too, based on her observations from her seat in the middle of the cafeteria. The only people that appeared unfazed were the Cullens sat in their usual spot in back corner of the room. If anything, they looked mildly annoyed by the excitement of everyone else, especially Edward who was in the middle of throwing his food on the plate when Astrid glanced over. Not that Astrid could really judge, it wasn't like she was thrilled to be there amongst the students in the cafeteria either. However, Bella wanted her to sit with her friends and her, so in the spirit of trying here Astrid was.

Jasper caught her eyes and raised a chip in her direction with a grin. She shook her head and narrowed her eyes jokingly. Cheeky shit, Astrid thought to herself, as Jasper chuckled silently across the room.
