Chapter 9 Freedom Ride

(I just saw a movie and it had me close to tears at the end. That's a lot coming from me seeing as I rarely get emotional in movies so sad sry if this update is a bit sad or depressing blam it on the movie I saw! I will try and keep it upbeat also red head maid pic)

"You know if you talked and treated people like you do your pets,you certainly would be a formidable foe and  or ally."

"Yes,and if I treated everybody this way then they would try and court me,which I wish not to happen."

"So tell me,why are you so against marriage?"

"The question you should be asking why are you for it?"

"I never said I was for it."

*A slight smile eased onto my face.*

"Well I will be honest I am not against it myself. I believe it is nice that two people can love each other enough to share their lives with each other,but then the world isn't a fairy tale where princes sweep maidens off their feet to be whisked away to the perfect life. No reality is cruel rarely do you get a loyal partner completely devoted to you. Even in the animal world animals breed with other partners to gain advantage."

"So in other words you can't trust anybody enough to be completely loyal to you?"

"Reality is harsh the only beings I can truly trust are my feline and equine companions. Humans just betray each others trust. At least Taz and Kyle were honest and told me when I was fourteen that I would be parting ways with them once we made it to our destination so in that aspect they still have partial trust,then again I never did fully trust them. So they stay the same trust wise."

*I stroked Dark Shadow gently as he ate. He lifted his head up and dropped some hay in my loose white hair. I let a smile ease onto my face.*

"My companions you see before me have gained my trust many times over. They are almost as old as I am. Dark Shadow only  two years younger and Jinx eleven years younger,then again she might be older than that and the same age as Dark Shadow."

"Those are some pretty old animals yet they look so young and act it too."

"Yeah well they aren't going to die before I do so they will be around for awhile."

*Jinx jumped onto my shoulder and wrapped her tail around my neck while her body was on the other side so she was balanced and covered in my hair which matched her coat nicely as a camouflage.*

"So any particular reason you dyed your hair white?"

"I didn't dye my hair this is it's natural color."

"You are what eighteen, nineteen and you have white hair?"

"Twenty one,do your math."

"Still,is it bleach white from the sun or something?"

"No,I always have a hood on pulse I won't tan,nor burn."

"Why in the world is you hair white then?"

"You still haven't gained my trust to tell you and do t ask Taz it Kyle cause thy don't know why either they asked me and I never did tell them so that tells you just how much trust it takes to gain my trust."

"They have been with you what sixteen years?"

"Yes."

"Well then it looks like I won't be gaining any knowledge anytime soon."

"Nope."

*Dark Shadow knelt down for me a sign he wanted me to ride. I swung my leg over his back so I was square in the middle and I wrapped my hand around his long mane.*

"Where are you going? Especially in a dress!!"

*I looked myself over and frowned at my attire. The dress I was wearing was showing my lingerie as I was sitting the outside corset was really tight around my stomach and making it hard to breath. I looked my outfits over and loosened the corset strings and cut them quickly I used the strings to thread the bottom of my dress so it was easier to ride in. I made the dress sorta like temporary pants, of course,but this way I wasn't riding around flashing my underwear I didn't really care tho. I had to wash my only pair of cloths somehow so all I had were bandages and underwear as I sat around the campfire with Taz and Kyle in their boxers. Tho I don't think the ladies here would be very approving of me riding western well more like barrel racing without the barrels. Especially since I wasn't riding side saddle like most girls are suppost to do.*

"Anybody asks, you don't know where I am."

*Dark Shadow took off bolting down the grassy hills he made some jumps over fallen trees and I let him do what he liked. I loved the feeling of the wind in my hair the sun above me and the thrill of the ride and no restraints. I could hear some hoofs coming behind me and I asked Dark Shadow to speed up he obliged as we barreled down the hills at a full out gallop. Dark Shadows movements when he ran were so smooth even a first time rider could ride him you barley even felt him make a step. I let go of his mane and held my arms out as it made me feel like I was flying. He continued to gallop on speeding up. I felt him jump my arms were still out so we both were in the air feeling like we were flying. I had been working on a few moves with Dark Shadow and I brought my hands down onto his back so I pushed myself up into a standing position on his back. His coat was glossy and slick,but I knew his movements and positioned myself so I was farther back towards his rear I looked over the hills and I saw some people still pursuing us. I knew they were after me trying to catch and make me into a 'lady'.*

"Ok Dark Shadow reverse gallop."

*I crouched down onto his back so my knees were level with my head and I was in a jockey position only crouched on Dark Shadows back. Dark Shadow quickly turned around at full gallop which in seconds sped past the gaurds. I brought Dark Shadow up under my window and started to climb vines that were wrapped around the mansion upward. Dark Shadow sped off and I climbed through my window meeting the angry read head maid. My one and only thought I am screwed!*
