Chapter 15 A Companion for Drake

(Riding dress)

*I awoke to some loud wrapping on my door. I moved groggily from the banister opening the door as a crack. Rachel was standing in the door fame  I handed her some mosquito netting to wrap around her head.*

"Put it on if you don't want to die. *yawn*"

"Did you just wake up?"

"Yeah...never was a morning person more nocturnal than dayturnal."

"Dayturnal?"

"Mhmm now you need something?"

"Yeah I need to get you ready as well as clean-"

"Don't even think about touching my stuff one wrong move and all of the deadly pollens will go flying all over the room."

"Yeah I was wondering why you had so many dried plants."

"Actually they aren't dried they have gone into a drought hybernation."

"Why do you even have them out if they are so deadly?"

"So they can get a breeze and germinate and accumulate."

"Wouldn't that mean that that the pollen would get in the air?"

"These flowers have another way of getting pollinated they don't have pollen rather they have fumes they release if you aren't use to it then it stinks,but if you are then it is quiet fragment it won't hurt you if it is in the open,but in a closed room like this it can be if left in here too long so thus I have built up an immunity to its potent fragrance."

"Well,what do you think you will be doing today?"

"Riding."

"I don't think so."

"Well ya can't stop me cause you only have thirty seconds left before I have to make an antidote in thirty seconds sadly it takes two days for an antidote strong enough to keep you alive so bye."

*I shoved Rachel out and locked the door. I grabbed a loose fitting dress and threw it on quickly. Thankfully I had such a small frame anything I wore would fit and it be too large for me not that I really cared tho about clothes. Never have never will.I don't see it as a fashion thing just as something to throw on and cover what it is suppost to. I went over by the balcony rushing distance between the closets tree and banister. I took a running jump jumped onto the railing and pushed off from there landing successfully in the tree. I climbed down quickly and started to walk the perimeter of the pasture. Dark Shadow came galloping up to me and bickered and bent down to a kneels so I could climb in then once I was in he stood up and started to trot off. It was quiet a nice day today if I hadn't been stuck here it would have been a perfect day to set out and go around the world again. I had been many places and had become fluent in many languages in fact I even knew some of the small tribal languages that mist people wouldn't dare learn. One would definitely say I traveled with the wind because if that I had built up a reputation and aquired many challenges wanting to take me on not knowing I was a girl so thus everybody avoided he not with silver hair riding a Black Arabian stallion and a albino servel on his shoulder. Anybody who saw me now would think I was this 'boys' sister or something. I could hear hoof beats coming up close behind,but due to Dark Shadow not being to agitated I wasn't in any danger. Drake ride up next to me and had to keep a fast pace to keep up with Drake Shadows trot. I turned around in his back and leaned against his neck so I could stretch out and talk.*

"What brings you out here on this fine day?"

"Looking for you."

"Don't you have some kind if princely duties?"

"I already finished."

"Good. Then you can follow me."

"Where to?"

"You will see,don't worry I haven't found a way out yet so it's no out of castle bounds."

"....."

*Dark Shadow came over to a few bushes and slowed to a walk then halted a few feet away from the bush.*

"What are we doing here?"

"Finding you a companion."

"Why here?"

"You'll see."

*I parted the bushes revealing a fox kit I knelt down and picked the scrawny thing up.*

"I found Jinx in a similar manner barley clinging to life abandoned due to her albanism. Now you have a companion one of which will help steer you to your right path and somebody who will never betray your trust and has free will."

*I gently handed the gray fox kit to Drake he stood holding it awkwardly.*

"You are too tense relax a little."

"I don't want to drop him."

"You won't. Sit down and just pet him."

*Drake sat down and started to pet the kit gently then he smelt began to loosen up. The Kit was rooting around looking for something to eat he was still just a baby his mother had been killed in a fox hunt that took place yesterday I had found him when I was doing a perimeter check and was going to come back for him after I made sure nobody was going to follow me.*

"So what are you going to name him?"

"I don't know,where is his mom?"

"She was killed in a fox hunt yesterday."

"Ohh..."

*I took the kit in my hands and turned him over to Jinx.Jinx took him gently in her mouth and grabbed some of the cows milk I had brought with me and Kaye's it down trying to figure out how to feed him. I eventually took the Kit and dipped my fingers in the milk feeding the kit that way.*

"So what are you going to call him?"

"Gray sparky? I don't know I nerve had to name anything before."

"Just make sure it isn't something he won't like when he is older and you will be fine. I named Dark Shadow,Dark Shadow due to his color a well as the shadow he cast. Then I named Jinx Jinx because well she would always Jinx me. Eventually over time when she got older she would help me with the mixing of herbs due to her primal instincts from the swamps. So any ideas for the kit?"

"Maybe Fleck? The gold flecks in his ocean blue eyes are really pretty."

"Perfect,now fleck is your responsibility just come to me when he needs to be fed and the rest is up to you. Once he is older he is all your responsibility."
