Chapter 10: Part 4

Rydel

After I heard what Hailey said to Laura I got kinda mad. I mean not to be selfish or anything but she called me mommy first. You know what whatever maybe I'll just talk to Riker and Hailey and see what I can do. I walked up to Riker and asked if I could speak to him for a moment. He agreed so I lead him outside for a more private conversation.

"Look Rydel I know what Hailey said probably bugs you but it's not like I love Laura that way. that might change someday but for now I don't have feelings for anyone." He said before I could even start. I just nod my head and go inside to talk to Hailey.I walk in and she's talking to Laura. For some reason I feet anger inside of me. (I'm sorry to make Rydel the bad guy here because I love Rydel.) I walk over to them and ask if I could talk to my niece/ daughter for a second. I walk outside and Hailey gets pushed outside in her wheelchair by Riker.

"Look Hailey sweetheart I know you want Laura to be your mommy but I thought that I was your mommy. Since the day we adopted you, you
have called me mommy or mom. What happened? Did I do something wrong?"

"No you didn't do anything wrong I just love Al- I mean Laura like a lot. She's like a role model to me and I love to hang out with her. And don't get me wrong I LOVE you to the moon and back, I mean your in my family, but I don't think you should be my mommy." she says the last part in a mumble sorta thing.

"Oh ok then. If that's how you truly feel." I say truly heartbroken. I just wanted someone to call my own so maybe I'll go and adopt a kid. Yeah. Maybe I'll go do it tomorrow and I'll ask Ellington if he wants to come to help pick out the kid. I really want a girl but I could go for a boy too. Oh and I really want him/her to be really young so I can watch him/her grow up, so maybe around the 2 or 3 age range.I text Ellington and ask him if he can come over tomorrow. He texts back and says that he can so I go get ready for bed since its already 12:34 at night. I take a very late night shower and hit the bed after saying goodnight to everyone.

I wake up the next morning and see that I have a message from Ellington telling me that he'll be here in a few minutes. I jump out of bed and get dressed before Ellington gets here. I'm in the middle of doing my hair when he walks in the house.

"Rydel! Where are you?!?" He yells

"Shut Up! everyone else is sleeping" I chuckle. He just laughs and sits on my bed to wait until I'm done.

"So where are we going that is so important, that you needed me here by 7:30 in the morning with everyone else asleep?" He asks once I grab my shoes and we are heading out the door.

"I can't tell you yet. It's a surprise." I say getting into the drivers seat of the car. He just nods and I turn the car on. Instead of playing the radio I just turned on our new cd,Sometime Last Night, and played Repeating Days since thats my favorite song,other than mine of course. As soon as it started playing Ellington and I started to sing along. We had already finished the song by the time I pulled up to the adoption center place that Riker got Hailey.

"Rydel why are we at Hailey's adoption center? Wait a minute. Are you going to adopt a kid?!" He asks me as we get out of the car. I don't answer, I just walk inside and up to the front desk. "Hello my name is Rydel Lynch and I am hoping to adopt a child around the ages of 2 or 3 years old."

"Ok well would you like to adopt a boy? A girl? Both?" The lady, Bella asks me as she types my information into the computer.

"Well I'm not exactly sure yet. Is it possible for me to see all of them at the same time?" She nods and calls all of the 2 or 3 year old children down into the living area thing. All the kids come down just as Ellington walks up next to me.

"I finally found you!" He chuckles.

"But the door is right there." I say pointing to the door that is right down the hall. He just shrugged and stood next to me.

"Ok Ms. Lynch these are all the children 2 to 3 years old. Please do whatever you need to help assist you with your decision." I nodded and walked over to all the kids that were playing with each other. Most of them were all playing together except for two kids, a little boy and a little girl, so I walked over to them.

I sat down next to them and started talking to them.

"Hello. My name is Rydel Lynch and I would like to adopt you two. If that's ok with you guys of course." I chuckled. They are just soooooo adorable!! Pretty much as adorable as a 2 year old could be. Of course since their only 2 they can't fully talk so they just crawl over to me and sit in my lap. I just laughed and took set them down for a minute.

I walked up to the desk to fill out the paperwork and stuff. I filled out all my information and all the other random things that they needed.

After I finished I walked back and grabbed my new children to take them back to their room(s) to gather all their things. I picked up my twins and carried them to the car as Ellington carried all their stuff and put it in the trunk.

Halfway there they were both already asleep. " Ellington what do you thinks going to happen when we get back? " I ask him getting a little worried and nervous for the first time today.

"Well I think that as soon as you walk in with..." He says not knowing the names I picked out.

"Sadie and Dustin." I said confidently.

"...Right Sadie and Dustin... Well when you walk in with them your going to be bombarded with questions and you could quite possibly get in trouble." He said already knowing that I already expected that.

*When They Get Home*

When we got home I grabbed the twins from their car seats and walked up to the door with Ellington right beside me. I took a deep breath and opened the door...

A/N: I really don't want anymore parts to this chapter so the next chapter is just going to be chapter 11. Also after this I'm going to post an A/N to update you on things happening with this book and me and stuff like that. I'm so very sorry for not updating sooner I've just been suppppper busy this summer so far, but I promise that I will learn how to get into a rhythm of updating so I can update more frequently.
