Chapter 10: She sang over the sound
Avril’s **POV**
The drive to school was short but was spent screaming out Pierce the Veil. More specifically ‘King for a day’ and ‘I’m low on gas and you need your jacket.’ We were running later so we had to be really quick at our lockers. the girls were already in homeroom when I got there the boys were there to, in the same spot as yesterday.
Our first class for the day was science. Not one of my strongest subjects. When we walked in Tahlia sat next to another girl. She had mid-length, strawberry blonde hair and seemed rather short.
“Avril, this is Taylor. Taylor, Avril. Av just moved here from Melbourne.” Tahlia said introducing me. She sent me a fake smile and turned away. I just stood there shocked.
“Yeah we tend to ignore her.” Kiera whispered to me.
“She went to school with Tahlia and were and apparently still are ‘best friends,’ but we just hate Taylor.” Jordan said joining in.
“She not the kind of person you want to be friends with. You tell her something next thing you know the entire school knows.” Kiera said sitting down.
“Ok thanks for that. I’ll be sure to remember.” I said sitting next to Jordan.
“Hey Avril.” A voice behind me said. I turned around and saw no one there. I heard someone laugh next to me. I spun ‘round to find Calum sitting in the spot on my right that was moments before empty.
“Not funny Calum.” I whined.
“Um yeah. You thought you were hearing things” he laughed.
“Shhhhh I wasn’t.” I shot back quickly.
“You totally were” He argued back.
“CALUM THOMAS HOOD DON’T YOU AGRGUE WITH ME” I yelled.
“Sorry” he replied scared.
“Wait you no my middle name?” He asked confused.
“Yeah so..”
“How?”
“I heard Luke say it yesterday.” It wasn’t a lie he did, but I just new it before that.
“Oh. Ok then. Hi Kiera! Hi Jordan!” He said waving.
“Hi Cal.” They both said together.
“Hows your leg? He asked.
“Meh its fine, just a little bruised but all good.” I said as the teacher walked in. Class was simple we had to complete a worksheet and then pair up for an experiment. Jordan and Kiera were together and Tahlia was with Taylor. So me being me just stood there like an awkward burrito.
“Avril?” Calum asked.
“Yeah”
“What exactly are you doing?”
“Being socially awkward” I simply replied.
“Ok then, wanna be my partner?”
“Seriously?” I asked shocked.
“Um yeah”
“Ok” I said. We skipped over to a work station. We just stood the waiting for the teacher to bring us our stuff. I subconsciously began tapping the beat to ‘If you can’t hang’ by Sleeping With Sirens and moments later my brain seemed to think that I should start humming it to.
“Are you serious?”
“What?”
“If you can’t hang”
