The next day, the Empress woke up with the scent of sandalwood invading his nose and a gentle hand caressing his belly and his mates nose pressed into the crook of neck where his scent gland was and a small smile came across his face as he turned his head to look at his mate.

"Lan Zhan."

The Empress whispered his mates name softly. The emperor immediately lifted his head and looked into his mates face, scanning his face with a worried look on his face.

"Wei Ying. How are you feeling?."

The alpha inquired softly, and his mate gave a weary but tired smile.

"I am fine, Lan Zhan. How is Mingzhu doing?. I need to write a letter to their parents informing them of their daughters death. Lan Zhan, what am I going to say to them."
