"...I'm running a bit behing today, so I though, if you guys wouldn't mind, I just like to write out my weekly Thank You Notes right now. Do you guys mind, is that cool?" asked Jimmy on my TV screen, and the audience showed their consent with a big applause. "Thank you guys!"

I was curled up in a blanket on my couch, staring at the show, in the company of a bottle of wine.
Megan had plans for this Friday, and Jimmy didn't call me since Tuesday. "Since that incident." I thoguht sourly. So the Tonight Show was my only source of information about him.

I drank another sip of wine, and when I got a bit sleepy, I turned down the volume. I put the bottle on the coffee table and threw myself back on the comfotable couch, which seemed to be my sleeping place for tonight.

~

I woke up around 9 am, and I didn't know what to do with my life as usually. I crawled out to my kitchen, made a cup of coffee and tried to wake up mentally while sitting at the diner table. I brought my phone with myself so as I drank, I checked my e-mails and messages. Nothing from Jimmy. But Megan texted me last night - when I was half-drunk - that she wanna talk to me asap.

I walked to my bathroom and took a shower, refreshened myself, and washed my hair. I noticed that my wound didn't hurt anymore when I touched it. After that, I wrapped myself in a clean towel and threw my slightly wet body onto the couch in the living room. I put my feet up to the table, giving all zero fucks I had. I picked up my phone from the table and typed in Megan's name. When it popped up in the contact list I immediately poked calling.

"Good morning." she greeted me.
"Hi." I hummed.
"Wow, somebody woke up on the bad side of the bed today. What's up? You didn't call me, how was Tuesday night?" she asked me cheerfully.
"It was great. Really." I fibbed. It wasn't bad, but he never called me since. I thought he was a nice guy, althoughit wasn't a date. "I just drank a little wine last night and now I'm feeling a little world-weary. That's all."
"Mm-hmm." murmured Megan after a few seconds. "Well I hope you'll be fine soon. We're going to that double date next week. I hope you don't mind." she said with repressed excitement.
"You know what, fine." I sighed. "You deserve to be happy after all. I'll help you keeping busy your knight's buddy. But just for a few hours!" I claimed.
"Yaay, that's what I'm talking about." she giggled.
"What are you up to now? Wanna come over?" I changed the subject.
"Nah not now. I'm going to the gym, but you can come with me if you want to."
"Ugh, not today." I mumbled.
"Okay then. Call you later, bye." she said.
"Bye." I hung up, and threw the phone to the table. Why am I regretting calling Megan all the time?

5:03 pm
I was in the living room with Megan, sitting in one of my armchair, painting my nails. Meanwhile, I put on some music and was thinking about I'll have to work next week. I knew I had to enjoy my last few days of freedom, so I thought I'll call Megan and tell her we must go out tonight.
"That's a great color." she pointed at my nails from the couch.
"I know." I stuck my tongue out.
I was half-ready by the time, I did my slight party makeup (Megan helped me; a little dark brown eyeshadow with mascara, matte nude lipstick and the usual foundation), I put some waves in my hair and now I was prepping my nails for the night.

Megan was straightening her hair, and I finished the last nail when my phone went off. I hurried to the table and picked it up immediately and said;
"Hello?" I said without ckecking who was it. I really need to stop with this.
"Are you busy?" said a familiar man voice.

My eyes widened as I checked the iD; it was Jimmy.

"Umm, wrong number, I guess." I muttered.
"Not wrong for me. What are you up to?" he asked.
"I'm at home and...wait, why did you call me now? I thought you forgot about me." I replied.
"No way, I had a, umm, complicated week." he stammered. "Sorry. But I am calling you now."
"Okay, then what kept you so busy the whole week?" I asked with a happier tone in my voice this time.
"Long story." he sighed.
"I have time."
"Then I'll be there after 6...?" he asked, but it sounded like a statement.
My smile froze to my face. "What? What about your wife and yo-"
"It's complicated and I wanna be everywhere but home." he said seriously. "The kids are with my sister anyway." he added.
"Well, Megan is here at the moment..." I looked at her, and she was staring at me with her eyebrows raised.
"Look, I wouldn't ask you if it wasn't important...But I guess I can ask Higgins or someone else, I was really rude, sorry, just forge-" he started.
"You can come." I cut him off, and I didn't really realized what I just said. Megan mouthed me a "what the hell?" with his hands raised questioningly.
"But I wouldn't interrupt the girls-night-out, would I?" he asked.
"Well, technically no, it wasn't settled anyways. Okay then. Be here around 6." I said but my voice sounded pretty unsure.
"Thank you. I owe you one." he sighed in relief. "Oh and please, find those tapes and make some popcorn until I arrive."
"I will. Bye." I chuckled.
"Bye, Adele." he hung up.

Great. I didn't know how to feel about it honestly. Something wasn't okay in the Fallon family, and I felt guilty that I was angry at Jimmy. When I realized Megan's presence I looked at her apologetically.

"He needs me." I defended myself.
"Adele, what was that?" she asked.
"I know there's something wrong with him, and I'm about to find out."
"You really needed to cancel our plans?" she sighed.
"Sorry. But you owed me for the date." I sat back to the chair.
"Touché." she admitted. "But please..." she started.
"Hmm?" I looked at her.
"Use protection." she gave me a feigned serious look.
"Shut the fuck up!" I chuckled and threw a pillow at her.

I checked the time on my phone after cleaning up a little bit in the house; it was 6:12 pm. Megan left after the call, and I kept the makeup and my hair as it was. I decided to put back my party-dress in the gardrobe and wore something more comfortable.
I dressed up as I usually would: jeans with a dark blue shirt. I sprayed a little perfume at my skin and I was ready.
