I stared outside the windshield as I buckled up my belt again, not caring with the stinging pain in my chest.
"Okay." I sighed after a minute of silence. "Then take me back home, please."
Looking at me, he placed his right palm on my bare thigh. "Look, Addie-"
"I said it's fine." I cut him off with somewhat more confidence in my sentence while I grasped both my legs against each other, letting his hand fall off of my thigh.
He furrowed his eyebrows in confusion, and grabbing the steering wheel, he started the engine. "I'll go and see what's she needing, and you'll wait for me in the car." he said firmly. "Is that okay? And then we can continue our night." he added with a soft smile, and grabbed my hand.
I was silent for a moment before speaking up. It sounds okay, maybe she's really needs something, after all she's his exwife, she has the right to call him in situations like this.
"Okay. Let's go." I fleshed and award-winning fake smile at him.
He smiled back though, and we left the parking lot in no time, turned back and went straight to Nancy's.
"Tell her I say hi." I said carefully as Jimmy opened the door on his side, in front of an apartment building. I wasn't familiar with this neighborhood.
"I will." he pecked my cheekbone, and hopped out of the car.
Sticking my eyes at him, I watched as he walked towards the entrance and disappear after stepping inside. I let out a sigh and started tapping my lap with my fingertips.
After a good ten minutes of waiting, my stomach growled several times in a row. I bit the inside of my cheeks - "Where is he already?" I thought.
At first, I wanted to call Megan and ask what should I do - but she doesn't even know about this thing between me and Jimmy. And I had no courage or energy to explain now, but I have to tell her everything soon.
Grabbing my purse, I ripped the door open and shut it. I waited for another couple of minutes, hoping that he'll be back soon, but when it didn't happened, I walked over to the building, and pushed the door open. Surprisingly, it was unlocked, and I could easily slip inside.
Walking up on the stairs, I examined every door, trying to find the name that could only belong to Nancy - or Jimmy.
"You're nonsense!" I heard a bit familiar female voice coming from the last door on the first floor. "Why are you in your suit anyways?"
"I just have to show up on a meeting, honey." said Jimmy's soothing voice too. I tiptoed over to the door and pressed my ear against it. "It's work-related. But hey, you called me and I'm here, so I don't get your point."
Honey. I felt a bitter taste in my mouth, and I tried to breathe as quietly as possible.
"I...I just got angry and nervous." I heard Nancy sigh. "The girls couldn't sleep, especially Winnie. I think she'll be sick."
"I get it." he cut her off. "It'll be fine." I heard footsteps getting closer and closer to the door, and I backed up.
Running as swift as my feet could, I stormed out of the building. Note to self: never try running in heels ever again.
