Chapter 21
Yoongi
After our visit to the doctor, my mind refused to settle.
"We'll call you once the test results are ready."
The doctor had been kind but firm, explaining that there was nothing we could do but wait. I had nodded, keeping my face neutral, but inside, a storm was brewing.
As I helped Jimin into the car, securing his seatbelt with gentle hands, I felt the weight of uncertainty pressing down on me. My fingers tightened on the steering wheel as I pulled out of the parking lot, the quiet hum of the engine doing little to ease my thoughts.
What if the results weren’t good?
What if something was wrong?
The drive home was quiet—too quiet.
Jimin sat beside me, staring out the window, his fingers fidgeting with the hem of his shirt. I could tell he was deep in thought, and I hated that I couldn’t do anything to ease his worries. My grip on the steering wheel tightened as I replayed the doctor's words in my head.
I clenched my jaw, forcing myself to focus on the road. Right now, all I could do was wait. And I hated waiting.
"We'll call you once the test results are ready. Until then, make sure he rests."
They had said it so calmly, so professionally. But all I could hear was the unspoken weight behind their words. What if something was wrong? What if—
"Hyung, are you okay?"
Jimin’s soft voice pulled me back. I glanced at him briefly, forcing a small smile even though my heart was anything but calm.
"Of course, baby. Are you feeling okay? Are you tired?"
Jimin shook his head, shifting slightly in his seat. "I'm fine. Just... I don't like hospitals. They make me feel uneasy."
I felt a sharp pang in my chest at his words. Of course, he didn’t like hospitals. He had spent so much time in one after the accident, waking up to unfamiliar faces, unfamiliar memories.
