Wei WuXian sighed.
His brows were knitted frustratingly, and he looked mighty annoyed, as if someone had set thousands of ants under skin.
The reason was, he had been trying to decipher the cube for about three days.
Three days since he got back from the burial mounds. He sure didn't want to go back there.
And he was trouble opening a crack in it's magic. Wei WuXian thought it was a resentment energy similar to the burial mounds.
And it was. Only...partially. There was a mix of another different type of energy in it. It didn't feel like spiritual energy, so he could only assume it was resentment energy.
Problem was, Wei WuXian had never felt such a resentment energy in his two lifetimes. It was vastly different from the many other resentment energies he had come across and came to control.
Every one had a different core of spiritual energy when cultivated, similarly the resentment energies were also different. However, the base of those resentment energies remained the same.
This one had an entirely different base on its own. And Wei WuXian couldn't figure out why, and as he couldn't figure out why, he couldn't control. No matter what he did, the cube didn't obey him.
Lan WangJi had been discussing things with his brother and uncle. And they decided that if Wei WuXian failed to make the cube obey, they had to take it to the next step.
Wei WuXian obviously didn't want them to deal with the resentment energy that was similar to the burial mounds.
"Lan Zhan, I am starting to think this isn't resentment energy." Wei WuXian spoke in annoyance, although not meaning it literally.
Lan WangJi didn't respond for a while, then his deep voice spoke up, "It might be the case. There is no resentment Wei Ying cannot control."
Wei WuXian turned a soft shade of red, "Lan Zhan, that's a weird way to flatter me, you know."
"Mn. But I really mean it."
Wei WuXian turned around, and as soon as he did, his face became even redder, because Lan WangJi him food he had cooked himself.
And among the dishes, there was also lotus rib pork soup.
Lan WangJi had mastered the recipe already, and although it did not taste like Jiang YanLi's cooking, Lan WangJi's version of the soup had a different appeal to it. Wei WuXian thought it was just as delicious as his sister's soup, if not more.
"Wei Ying might be right. This is a different sort of energy."
Wei WuXian snapped out of his day dreaming stupor, and fixed his face to a more serious one, "As in? Are you saying...it's something even more otherworldly than resentment energy?"
"Mn. Something we are not familiar with."
Wei WuXian furrowed his eyebrows and fell into a deep thought.
There were other energies they might not be familiar with, such as divine energy, or purely demonic energy. Energy that came from a celestial being and a demon by birth was entirely different from spiritual or resentment energy.
He wouldn't be familiar with those kinds of energies, as he never felt them up. Sure, spiritual energy was the early stage of divine energy, same with the demonic and resentment energy being interconnected like that, but he wouldn't be much familiar with them.
Suddenly he made a theory. Wei WuXian's silver eyes twinkled.
"Lan Zhan, what if it's a cult?"
Lan WangJi knitted his thin eyebrows in a frown, "Mn?"
