Silence.
Yu ZiYuan waited.
Waited.
Moments passed by.
And she waited.
And then, an answer came.
"Okay."
...Huh?
Yu ZiYuan snapped her head to Jin Ling from the suddemly very interesting ground, confusion clinging all over her delicate features, "Eh? That's all?"
A shrug.
"Yeah."
....Wow. That was...way off her expectations.
Yu ZiYuan blinked once. Twice.
"Are you not surprised?"
"I am."
"Then? Well, I am glad you are taking it well, but..."
Jin Ling raised an eyebrow at her, "You expected a bigger reaction?"
A nod.
"What for?" Asked the boy with fhe vermillion mark, rather nonchalant about such a large reveal.
Now it was Yu ZiYuan's time to raise an eyebrow, "What do you mean 'what for'? A-Ling, I thought you would at least have a bigger shock to someone claiming to be your dead grandmother."
Not only did he not have a big shock of a reaction, he even believed it.
"I am not new to this method."
...
Ah. That explains.
Jin Ling is more experienced in bullshit magical sect conspiracy than she expected.
"Well, are your uncles here?" Yu ZiYuan awkwardly shifted.
Jin Ling nodded.
"Alright."
...And awkward silence again.
Despite everything Jin Ling said, it was apparent he still was considerably shocked. His vibrant eyes went somewhat blank, almost a head empty state, she would say.
Yu ZiYuan didn't know what to say. It's not like she wanted to be reborn like this and deceive them. But situations...called for it.
"A-Ling, I know that it changes a lot of things between us, but I never wanted to deceive you, or anybody for that matter."
A slow nod.
"I know."
"But you need time." Yu ZiYuan stated, as a matter of fact. Jin Ling stayed silent for a while, before slowly muttering, "I do."
She didn't blame him.
Jin Ling slowly got up from the white bedsheets, the floor tapping sounds slightly lingering, "I will be going then. Rest well, Ji..." Jin Ling's face faltered with a somber expression.
Yu ZiYuan smiled faintly.
"It's okay. Take your time."
Jin Ling bowed, surprising Yu ZiYuan, and then left the room with moderate steps.
Ling Xiang walked in, "Surprised?"
"Yes."
"Our young master is strong."
Yu ZiYuan went silent.
Strong.
The word strength held a lot of meaning, a lot of different ones for a lot of people.
She had abused the word strength to differentiate her children, and created a barrier that still held on, even if it was a weak one.
