The roar of silence was defeaning, as if the scars in a body sang loud enough to have no noise be heard by humans.

The light, sometimes, was not good. There is light that destroys, and darkness that brings gentle comfort.

The red floor seemed to be dyed in blood. But in reality, it was just the soil being of red sand.

Yu ZiYuan didn't know whether the sand was red naturally, or truly was dyed in blood.

She had been asked. Many times. By many people.

Jin Ling, Jiang Cheng, Wei WuXian. Even Lan WangJi.

Every time, her answer was yes. It was worth a shot. This was the best chance at victory that they had.

The sky was dark, as if signalling the ominousity with an intense glare. The moon was full, and yet seemed to only make the night darker. More terrifying.

Yu ZiYuan sighed. Her uncle's given route she had followed.

They had followed.

A village as strange and desolate as it was, she could feel the wretched aura of the demon from a mile away.

The same ruined temple.

Painted in dark red and brown, as if someone had wrapped this place in human blood, new and dried alike.

In the middle stood an altar, and in front of that stood the demon statue.

Destructive. A monstrosity. Teeth out, eyes blazing red, long grey hair and nails and crimson skin.

Her eyes looked like they could suck in every soul in this world.

Yu ZiYuan shivered slightly. The air turned cold. Colder. Thinner. It became harder to breathe.

"So you came, Violet Spider." Yu ZiYuan heard a voice. Deep. Soothing. She looked behind, brows knitted, teeth clenched.

The cult leader, Kui Lang. Grinning like a madman.

His eyes were dark, not even the sclera could be seen.

"Leave these people alone. You have possessed and drank up enough energy from people." Yu ZiYuan put her hands on her sword, right finger slowly crossing over the hilt.

"How come you never used your wits before?" Wenyi Yicheng grinned, and this time, blood was revealed in the teeth of Kui Lang. The possessed Kui Lang.

"Nonetheless. It doesn't matter."

Still grinning ear to ear, he raised his hands and heads up. Bold. Quiet.

Decisive.

"Today is the day."

Yu ZiYuan's hand fisted unconsciously, her mind slipping into what they had planned.
