When it hit him Calum almost gasped, having to catch his breath. He was in love. In love with the girl that was lying right beside him staring up at the sky. This was what he had wanted to avoid, but she had been right. Love was inevitable, and unexpectable as well. It came without you noticing what was happening so you couldn't stop it. Calum tensed up thinking about this, and he realized when he left he was going to feel terrible. He was going to miss her, and he hadn't even known her for 24 hours. Why did she already mean so much to him? No.
He wasn't going to be in love with her, because he couldn't, not even like her. He didn't lover her either, it was just that he knew that if he got the chance he would. He was going to love her and he couldn't do it, he could not love her. In any way. He was going to leave so soon, and he just couldn't.
"But why don't you wanna fall in love really? What happened?" Calum questioned her now wanting to know, even if it would hurt her to tell him. Because he wanted her to like him back, if she didn't then he had no idea what he was going to do. She just had to like him as well, because Calum could not take it if she didn't. He had no idea what he was doing, this game was new to him, and he felt helpless. In a way he also hoped she didn't, because maybe that would stop him from liking her any more, but he knew that it was wrong. It would only hurt.
"They just... treated me horribly, no man has ever treated me like I was ever worth something, not even my father. Well, except for you and the boys." She said closing her eyes now, as she could feel the tears build up behind them. She really didn't want to cry, but she felt like she was going to. It all had been so terrible, and she didn't want to go through it again. It wasn't just the heart break, it was the way everyone had treated her as well.
"I don't understand why anyone would do that to you." He said. Not someone as beautiful as you are. He added in his head almost sighing out loud, before he stopped himself from doing it. Realizing it would just be weird, and then there would be questions. Yeah, better not.
Piper shrugged to herself, she found it cute that he would say something like that to her, he seemed so sincere, and she believed him it. She trusted him now, and she couldn't go back with that. Unless he did something saying she couldn't. Yet, he had not, so for now, he had her trust as well as she had his.
"I don't either." She said silently, opening her eyes again, to keep staring up at the sky. She was almost dry now, and it felt nice, and warmer to have her clothes be dry again. She couldn't stop thinking about Calum's shoulder against hers, every time he moved his soft skin rubbed against hers and sent chills up her spine. She hadn't ever felt like that before when someone touched her, close, but not the same way. It didn't even occur to her why he made her notice something like that.
"I mean, everyone in the world is worth the same, no matter age or color, or what they have done." Calum said as truth was. He thought that every human was worth just as much and that everyone should be treated fairly with the same respect.
"So... even a bad guy?" Piper questioned, and after it had left her lips she realized how silly it was. Such a stupid question, especially the way she had said it. He had made it pretty clear that every human was worth as much, even though Piper hadn't thought about it like that before. The hatred she had for everyone that had treated her badly made her think otherwise. Though as he said it, she realized just how right he was.
"Even a bad guy." He confirmed smiling slightly at her question. Then suddenly he sat up and Piper flinched as the warm touch of his shoulder disappeared. She sighed silently, feeling that he had ruined everything and sat up as well. Touching him again with her shoulder. She couldn't help but smile slightly as that happened.
