The darkness had fell upon the little area where their bus stood parked. One of the two doors were still open, and in the stairs up to the bus sat Calum Hood, just as earlier. He had not moved from there all day, and now late at nigh, he was almost asleep. His head leaning softly against the wall beside him, while he was blinking trying desperately to keep his eyes open. His mess of dark hair was hanging in his face, and the bag of food his friends had brought earlier that day were still standing on the step beneath him waiting to get eaten. When in fact that would never happen. He really did not want to fall asleep in that moment, but he couldn't help that he was very tired.
He was still thinking of her, hoping that she would come back to him, but it was so late now that he doubted her return. What Calum didn't know was that inside the bus Luke were awake as well, him knowing that eventually she would return. Even if it was just to give back the clothing that belonged to then she would come back. That would give her and Calum a new chance to figure out things and maybe even actually try this time.
Even in his dreamy state Calum was thinking of her constantly. He wanted her back so much, and he couldn't stop thinking of the image of her in his head. The images in the memories, he was afraid that one day those images would get less clear and that he would forget what she looked like. That was a thing he could not let happen, because she was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen and he could not let himself forget that. He could not let himself forget that long dark silky hair or those brown eyes, or those pink and incredibly kissable lips of hers. He could not forget the way her lipstick had been stained all over her face and his chest even the first morning they woke up together. Never could he let himself forget that. He wanted to remember when he was old what it has been like to climb through that bathroom window on the bus to get to her, the only thing he wanted to let himself forget was the pain of her leaving.
That was one thing he could very much be without, a memory he did not need. In fact he would rather want it gone than to remember it. Although he didn't want it to go away because of anything except for her. He didn't want amnesia like in the song, because he knew that if he forgot about the pain then maybe he would forget just how much she meant to him. For her it was worth taking that pain, and any other pain life could give.
"Hey." A voice spoke, somehow managing to sit down on the small step beside him. At first Calum didn't react to this, then he jumped up and off the stairs as he recognized the voice that spoken. As he smelled the familiar scent of the girl that he had thought would never ever come back to him. Yet here she was proving him wrong, and it wasn't the first time she had done that in those 32 hours they had known each other.
"Piper!" He bursted out but just as he finally managed to focus his gaze and calm down. She was no longer standing there in the stairs. Calum shook his head blinking a few times. Had he just imagined it? He blinked again, before he knew that he had to make sure. So therefore in two long steps he jumped back up the stairs. There she stood, just as he had hoped, pulling of his T-shirt so that she was left with only her bra on. Calum's eyes were wide while staring at her.
"Piper!" He finally shrieked out, leaping forward to wrap his arms around her. His skin felt warm against hers, and he couldn't even describe how good the feeling was to have her close to him again. It was one of the greatest joys he had ever felt, and the best part was that all the previous sadness and grief washed away from him leaving him left with nothing but a huge smile and a heart beating at the same rhythm as hers.
Slowly he pulled away from the hug that she had not returned, his smile forming into a frown filling his features. She was staring up at him with a guilty look, and he could feel his stomach turn. Was she not back there for him? Calum quickly put his hands on her hips stopping her from moving further away from him. Even if she was going to leave there was one thing he was going to do first.
