Katherine's Point of View

When we returned to the camp, all were finally asleep except for Aragorn.
He sat, silently smoking his pipe.

Aragorn looked up at us, smirking, as we walked up to him and separated, both of us going to lie down and sleep.

Aragorn kept smirking at me as I made my way to my bed of blankets.
I felt my cheeks blush and I muttered, "Shut up." to him.
I knew that Aragorn understood my situation.
Elves were....irresistible.

I looked around and I couldn't see Frodo anywhere. I looked at Aragorn frantically, but he quietly whispered that Frodo had gone somewhere with Lady Galadriel, it was alright.

I sank back into my blankets with relief, but something was still bothering me.

What had I done? I had kissed someone else. I had sworn to myself to never get involved with someone ever again.
I didn't ever want to fall in love again. It hurted too much.
Yet I was confused. What did that kiss mean to Legolas? Did he feel as conflicted as I did? I knew that we weren't supposed to be together. We were of different races, but I knew that I could never have hope of finding someone else now that I had kissed Legolas.

I felt different, in a good or bad way I didn't know, but I was going to confront Legolas and ask him how he felt, no matter what.

I finally closed my eyes and was instantly out like a light.

After a few days of resting, it was time to go.
We left Caras Galadhon and went to the edge of the Celebrant river, which headed east until it connected with the Anduin river that flowed south.

Galadriel and Celeborn met us at the banks of the Celebrant. They gave us three boats and supplies.

9 elves stepped forward and attached light green cloaks onto our backs, pinning it together with a green leaf pin at our throats.

As the elves stepped back, Celeborn spoke.
"Never before have we clad strangers in the garb of our own people. May these cloaks help shield you from unfriendly eyes."

We started loading the boats with our food and supplies.
I was loading one boat while Legolas loaded the other, in which Merry and Pippin were sitting nonchalantly.

Legolas took a package of Lembas bread and took out one and talked to the hobbits as I watched.

"Lembas!! Elvish waybread. One small bite is enough to fill the stomach of a grown man." Legolas said, taking a bite and then putting the Lembas bread back into the package.
Ew.
I would kiss him and share spit with him, but that was his piece now. I wasn't going to touch it.

Legolas left the boat to grab some more supplies as I stayed in my boat near the hobbit's boat, arranging things so that people could manuever in the boat.

I heard Merry and Pippin whispering.
"How many did you eat?" Merry asked Pippin, talking about the Lembas.

Pippin responded with perfect timing.
"Four."
I bit my lip. Hobbits were strange and funny creatures, that was for sure.
Pippin burped.
I burst out laughing.
They looked startled, but then laughed along with me.

We were headed for the Falls of Rauros that were along the Anduin river further south of where we were. We needed to take the Celebrant to the Anduin and then turn south in order to get to the falls.

Before we left, Galadriel gave us each a gift.
She spoke to each of us in turn.
"My gifts for you, Legolas and Katherine, are bows of the Galadhrim."
My jaw dropped as I took my new, bigger bow and tested it, but Legolas just traced his fingers along the patterns etched into the wood of his bow, which matched mine.
"These bows are worthy of our woodland kin and of a human with such a flawless skill."
I looked up, my eyes shining with tears of gratitude.
Galadriel nodded and moved on.
