Daryl Pov
Me and jody haven't spoken to our families since that night they were arrested. We heard that merle had been placed in the same prison as Freddie Adams but was moved because he almost killed him. It was the one time jody wasn't angry at merle since it all turned to shit. The one time she ever smiled because of him, and it was because her dad nearly got murdered. The fucker deserved it but I hated that merle was the one who did it
We have moved into our new house and we both loved it. Daniel was 2 years old now. He could walk and talk and it was incredible. He was turning into a proper person with his own personality. He hates swimming and refused to go to his lessons, but he loves hunting. Of course he's never held a gun, I'm not stupid. Jody swears he just likes to see the animals, not actually the hunting bit.
"Good morning," I whispered to jody, kissing her neck
She smiled, lay on her stomach. "Good morning, handsome. You got work today?" She asked
I shook my head. "Nah. Thought I'd take the day off to be with you. I haven't seen you much these past few months."
"I know. We've been busy. With Daniel waking up early every morning and- wait, why hasn't Daniel woke us up yet?"
We both instantly jumped out of bed and ran into his bedroom. It was much nicer than the old one. It felt homely and cozy. Sound asleep, he was in his crib
"He's fine. Snores like his mama," I said
Jody scoffed. "I do not snore."
"Baby, you snore from the moment you are asleep to the moment you wake up."
"Fuck off. I do not."
"Hate to break it to you, but you definitely do. Don't worry. I think it's cute." I kissed the tip of her nose and walked out the room. But I stopped at the doorway when I noticed jody hadn't moved. She was still stood staring down and Danny
"Hes fine, Jo," I told her
"Why hasn't he woke us up? He never sleeps in this late," she panicked
I walked closer and gently grabbed her hand. Softly, so not to wake him, I guided her to feel his beating heart. "See, he's perfectly well. Come on, let's get breakfast and he can have a lie in. Maybe he just didn't sleep very well last night. Or maybe he's growing up."
Since having Daniel, jody has developed anxiety. The doctor said it was normal amongst new mothers but for jody, it never seemed to go away even after 2 years. She wakes up often in the middle of the night just to check he is still breathing. I think it has something to do with her dad, and the threats he made. Although he was in prison, the fear for jody was still there. It took over any rational thinking
But I try my best to help her, and when Daniel is awake and by her side, she is happy as can be. The fear only really sets in during the night, when she can't hear him making a noise
"Do you want me to bring you some breakfast up and you can sit here with him?"
"Yes, please."
"Eggs and toast?"
"Sounds good, thanks."
I nodded and went away to make the food. When I walked up stairs, Daniel was on jody's lap, playfully touching his mothers face
"Did you sleep well?" I asked him, handing jody her food in exchange for the baby
"Yeah. I'm hungry."
"Do you want some food?"
"Yeah."
"Manners, Daniel," jody reminded him
"Yes, please," he spoke again. He was only young, but his accent wasn't difficult to pick up on. Anyone could tell where he was from
I sat him down next to jody and went to get his food, bringing it up for him
He ate it quickly and happily
"Momma and daddy are getting married today. Then, we can go out for a nice meal. You wanna help me get ready?"
"Yeah! I wear Dino?" His dinosaur costume that he got for Halloween was his favorite outfit and he wore it everywhere
"Sure, baby. You can be a dinosaur if you want." We didn't like to say no to him. We weren't raising a brat, jody was certain of that. But she didn't see the point in arguing to make him wear something uncomfortable. He was a little kid. Not like anybody would judge his outfit
The only family were had was eachother, so the wedding was as small as it could possibly get. It was just the two of us, plus our boy. It was bittersweet for both of us, but merle and Donna didn't deserve to be there. Our fathers definitely didn't deserve it either.
3rd Person Pov
Jody put on a simply white dress and did her hair and makeup as she did every day. "How do I look?" She asked Daniel
"Very pretty," he grinned, hugging her legs. She ruffled his hair and bent down to kiss him
Daryl came out in a suit which made jodys jaw drop open. "Oh...my..."
"Shut up," he scoffed
"You look hot."
"And you look beautiful. Like an angel, darling," he admitted, blushing himself. They got into the truck and drove to the town hall where they would sign their papers.
For their little family, it was just perfect. Simple but happy. After their names were signed, daryl kissed his wife passionately whilst Daniel covered his eyes. "I love you Mrs Dixon."
"I love you Mr dixon. In your girl now."
"Darling, you've always been my girl."
They went out to eat dinner, laughing all night long. On the way home, Daniel fell asleep in the back of the car
"He's asleep," jody whispered, turning to look at him
"He's had a full day. I can't believe we're married. I can't stop grinning."
"I can tell. Look like you slept with a coat hanger in your mouth."
He held her hand and gave it a gently squeeze.
"Daryl,"
"Yeah."
"I'm ready."
"For what?" He asked
"I'm ready to have sex with you."
He thought for a moment before asking, "are you sure? Just because we are married doesn't mean-"
"I know. I was so scared and have been for so long. I kept thinking that you'd just use me for sex, just like my dad. I know that you would never but the fear was there deep down. But we're a family, and I trust you with everything in me."
A smile crept onto daryls face as he nodded his head. "I promise, I'll be gentle and we can take things slow. I want to make love to you, not just fuck you."
"I know. I'm excited but nervous."
"Me too. But we're doing this together, just like we always do everything else."
