Harry:
It was 2 a.m. when you heard the quiet, pattering footsteps in the hallway. You were still half-asleep, but the soft sound of the bedroom door creaking open caught your attention. You turned your head just as your little daughter appeared in the doorway, clutching her stuffed bunny and rubbing her sleepy eyes.
She stood there, hesitant, her lower lip trembling as tears started to pool in her big, innocent eyes. “Daddy…” she whimpered, her tiny voice breaking.
Harry stirred beside you, his brow furrowing as he woke up. The second he saw her, his sleepy expression softened into pure love and concern. “Oh, my little love,” he said, his voice husky but gentle. “Come here, baby girl.”
Her little legs carried her quickly to his side of the bed, and Harry didn’t hesitate for even a second. He scooped her up into his arms, sitting up against the headboard with her cradled securely on his lap. She clung to him immediately, her small hands gripping his shirt shaking.
“Hey, hey, what’s wrong, sweetheart?” he asked, his voice so soft and soothing it could’ve melted stone. “Did you have a bad dream?”
She nodded, her face buried in his chest as she started to sob. Harry’s hand immediately came up to stroke her curls, his touch as gentle as a whisper. “Oh baby girl,” he cooed, kissing the top of her head. “Daddy’s got you now. Nothing can hurt you, I promise. Not on my watch.”
Her tiny voice broke through her sobs. “It was… it was scary, Daddy.”
“I know, baby. Dreams can feel really big and scary sometimes,” he said, rocking her gently back and forth like she was still a baby. “But you know what? None of that is real. And even if it was, I’d chase it away for you, okay? No one messes with my princess.”
She sniffled, tilting her head up to look at him with those tear-filled eyes. “Really?”
“Really,” Harry said, giving her a playful, confident grin. “I’d wrestle a whole army of monsters.”
That made her giggle softly, though tears still clung to her lashes. Harry beamed at the sound and kissed her forehead.
She wiped her eyes with her bunny’s ear. “Can I stay with you and Mommy?”
“Of course you can, lovebug,” he said without hesitation. He shifted slightly, tucking her under the covers between you both. “You’re safe now. I’ll stay right here with you all night, and nothing bad will happen, okay?”
Her small hands reached up to touch his face. “I love you, Daddy.”
Harry melted on the spot. “I love you more, princess. So, so much,” he said, his voice thick with emotion.
He tucked her in close, holding her securely while he hummed one of her favorite lullabies. You watched the scene unfold, your heart nearly bursting at the pure love radiating from Harry as he cared for her.
Soon, her breathing slowed, and she fell asleep in his arms, her little fist still gripping his shirt like a lifeline. Harry looked down at her, his green eyes glistening as he kissed her hair again.
“She’s my whole world,” he whispered to you, his voice barely audible.
“She’s lucky to have you,” you replied softly.
“No,” Harry said, glancing at you with a tender smile. “I’m the lucky one. She’s perfect.”
And as you lay there, watching him hold her like she was the most precious thing in existence, you knew there was no one better to protect and love her than Harry.
