Chapter 22: Golden Boy
I wake up hearing noises on top of my chest. I flutter my eyes slowly open to see a dark shape on top of my body. I must be dreaming because what could possibly be on top of me right now. Then the shape starts to move a bit. My eyes got huge to see Poppy's missing Niffler on top of me. I am taken by surprise and shriek. Poppy shoots up from her bed with her hair half in a knot on the side of her head.
I didn't even know Poppy came in last night. When I must've fallen asleep looking at that photo of Sebastian and I. She must've come in quietly. The Niffler is holding the photo frame with the photo in it. Poppy gasps seeing it on top of me.
"Now! Don't move!" She whispers quietly because the Niffler was startled already by my scream.
"Duh! I know how to handle these! I have handled them before," I say in a mocking like tone, still pissed that the Niffler is sitting on my chest. Poppy slowly gets up from her bed to tip toe behind the Niffler. The Niffler was so amazed by the picture frame because it looked like gold. The Niffler turned around and saw what Poppy was about to do. He ran away to the corner of the room where none of us really went into this trunk. He pushed his body into the opening of the trunk and the trunk slammed shut. Poppy and I looked at each other in awe realizing the Niffler's hiding spot had been in our room the whole time.
"That darn Niffler!" Poppy scuffs running to the corner where the trunk is placed to open it. I follow her lead to see what treasures the Niffler has found because Nifflers love gold so who knows what can be in that old trunk. To our amazement, we see many lost items from Hogwarts students. People talk in the halls how their favorite missing coin has been missing, or their favorite necklace. Our jaws dropped seeing all the gold in the chest. Poppy digs through the pile of stuff the Niffler has kept for himself. I see at the corner of my eye a leather journal with a gold lock on it. I recognized the journal immediately and gasped. Poppy turns to her head to see why I gasped then followed my eyes to see the journal. Her eyes got huge and scooped the journal up. The Niffler raised his hands up as she grabbed it, throwing a small tantrum making the cutest noises I have ever had a creature make.
"Do you know what this is?" Poppy says holding the brown leather journal up to my eye view with an exciting expression on her face. Of course I know what it is, it is Maxwell's art journal. The one he has been looking for, the one he draws in all the time, and the one that most likely keeps his deepest secrets in it. I just met Maxwell but he is so mysterious. I stay silent giving her a blank reaction to her question. She grunts walking over to her bed jumping on it with the journal still in her hand.
"This is Maxwell's journal! We can find out a lot about him with this if we open it, I believe!" Poppy smirks.
"Poppy, that is like his diary, he seems very protective of that journal. Maybe we should not look in it," I say reaching for the journal but she dashes her hand away from mine.
"Violet! Girls would die knowing what is in this! Maxwell is one of the hottest guys next to Sebastian! Poppy shouts.
"What about Garreth?" I giggle, raising my eyebrows. Poppy picks up her pillow and throws it at my head. I shout Ow! Poppy giggles.
"You know what I mean! Maxwell does not discuss who he likes and pretty much rejects everyone. We can see who he secretly admires from afar!" Poppy explains with pure excitement.
"Maybe he is in love with you?" I roll my eyes and giggle. Poppy sticks her tongue out mockingly.
Poppy tries to open it but the journal is locked with a charm. She sharply turns her head over to me knowing all the experience I have unlocking doors with the charm. She pouts her lips begging me to open the journal.
