Love.
I don't love you any less.
As his own words sank in, his hand clenched slightly against her chest — of course it took him something like this to fully acknowledge his own feelings. Of course he could only acknowledge it when it's possibly too late.
"If — when — you wake up and are back to yourself, I promise I'll say it enough to make up for all the times I already should have." His voice was quiet as he spoke, the reality sinking in that even if she were to wake up, there's no telling if she'll ever actually be herself again. As he removed his hand from her chest, he was about to turn around and leave before he noticed a change in her breathing.
"Sho... Shota?" [L/n]'s voice was hoarse, her eyes only half opening as she managed to meet his tired gaze.
From the observing end of the room, while no one knew what had been said, they bore witness to what was happening.
His eyes were as wide as they could be as he heard her voice, seeing her face scrunched up in a mixture of confusion and pain. If Yamada was in the room, Aizawa would ask him to slap him to ensure he wasn't merely dreaming.
"Where the hell are we? Why am I all, well, tied up—" [L/n] cut herself off as she noticed the presence of others in the room. It was hitting though, to both the doctors and Eraserhead himself, that she must not remember what happened.
The door opened, and in came Nemuri, Yamada, and Tsukauchi.
"[L/n]!" Yelled Present Mic and Midnight, their voices bouncing off the walls. They had the urge to run up to their [h/c] haired companion, but were stopped upon the look on her face, as well as Aizawa's and the doctors.
"[L/n] [F/n], may I ask you a question." Inquired one of the doctors, an average height blonde woman with chocolate brown eyes. Lightbringer could read her name tag, identifying her as Dr. Heartfilia.
"I suppose I'm not quite in a position to say no." She answered, eyeing the impressive amount of restraints she was currently in. The pain was evident in her eyes, that much the entirety of the group could tell. Yet she didn't complain about it, nor even bring it up.
Dr. Heartfilia looked towards her fellow companion, a tall, spiky black haired man with gleaming red eyes, Dr. Redfox, and the two nodded at one another. The blonde proceeded, "What is the last thing you remember, Lightbringer?"
Silence filled the room, a heavy, thick silence. Everyone watched as [L/n]'s [e/c] eyes trailed from one person to the next, making piercing direct eye contact with each and every one of them.
After far-too-long, did she speak, "I can't recall. I know each of you — but I don't know how I know each of you." She turned to the doctors, "Well, except for you two. This is the first time I've met you, at least I believe so." Her face scrunched up in a pain unlike before, a pain more mental than physical. "Why... why don't I remember anything? I remember no events... no... nothing..."
One of the many machines that she was hooked up to — the electrocardiogram monitor — began beeping violently, her heart rate skyrocketing. Panic began to flood her facial features as she began to mentally spiral. "How can I know who am I, who you all are, and yet remember nothing else? It doesn't make any sense! Where am I from!? Where am I now!? What's my connection with all of you!? What's—" Nemuri rushed her broken friend, and despite everything wrapped around her body, she embraced her in the best way she could. Yamada soon joined in, also embracing the woman in the best way he could.
Her heart rate slowed, something that confused [L/n]. After a few moments she managed to muster out, "We all must be friends... is that right?"
"Yes, yes we are." Nemuri replied softly. Deep down she was hurting, but dismissed it for the time being. To learn that one of your closest friends recalls nothing of you is heart shattering. She knew that Hizashi felt the same. And for Shouta? Neither she nor Yamada could fathom what he was going through.
