Maybe Meant To Be

~Chapter 33~

After a long time of being offline, I'm back-! (Don't know how long I'll be here, but yeah-) Since I was gone for so long, I forgot part of my storyline and had to try reminding myself again 😭 But worry not, because this time I made sure to write down my plans so if I disappear again, I'll at least know where to start off from again. Anyways, I hope you enjoy this long- awaited chapter!

     "Where is Y/D?" Optimus asked his fellow autobots. As soon as he asked, it seemed they went silent.

     "Who's going to tell him?" Arcee whispered to Bulkhead. The olive mech just looked at Ratchet in reply.

     The medic hesitated before sighing, and turning his helm towards Optimus.
     "I don't quite know how to tell you this but... It seems Y/D went back with her brother... Y/D left the base without telling anyone... Now, whether she's joining them permanently, or just there to find Smokescreen, we don't know. But-"

     Optimus' face seemed to go dark, and Ratchet stopped.

     "Optimus? Look, you should've known she would go back sooner or later. Megatron is her brother. Her only living relative that we know of. You-"

     "I am fully aware of who Megatron is to her. But I just don't understand why she would go back, knowing more of what he is capable of." Optimus looked down at the metal floor, and the bots could tell he seemed almost spark-broken that Y/D had left.

     "Maybe she did go to find Smokescreen. She was really upset about him being taken."
     :- Yeah but... How are we supposed to go there and find them?-:
  
     "We can't." Ratchet quickly said. "The Decepticon ship hides its location all too well, and even if we did find it, the ship moves too fast for us to even try and ground bridge there."

     "Then we'll just have to wait until Y/D and Smokescreen's return." Optimus said, before turning and leaving the main room. The bots could hear him enter his berth room.

     "Poor Optimus..." Bulkhead sighed.
     "Too bad there's nothing we can do..." Arcee shook her helm sadly.

     Y/D now wandered the ship carefully.

     Wait... Why do I have to be careful- I forgot I'm allowed on here- I don't need to be acting suspicious- I just have to find Smokescreen, and then I'm out of here!

     The femme's thoughts were interrupted when she heard Knockout all upset. And then, a voice she didn't think she would hear:

Smokescreen.

     She quickly ran to where she heard the voices, only to see Smokescreen suddenly disappear through the wall, and Knockout calling for help.

     "Let me out! Lord Megatron! Y/D! Get me out of here!!"

     He hasn't noticed me... But how do I get to Smokescreen now?!

     Smokescreen couldn't find his way out just yet, but he did find the Omega keys, right after snatching them from the Decepticon leader himself.

     Suddenly, he accidentally bumped helms with-

     "Y/D!"
     "Smokescreen!"
     "What are you doing here?! Did Megatron take you too?! Nevermind that-! We need to get out of here!"

     Smokescreen grabbed Y/D's servo, holding the Omega keys with his other limb and servo.

     "Do you know the way out, Y/D?"

     "Smokescreen..."

     "Hopefully we can find it in time before-"

     "Smokescreen."

     "-Megatron or the other cons find us-"

     "Smokescreen!"

     "... Yes?"

     "I can't come with you..."

     Smokescreen suddenly looked at the smaller bot, with a crazy expression.

     "Why? This is our chance to get free! Optimus and the others will be worried about us! About us both!"

     "I have to stay here... I need to stay here... With Megatron... You need to go. I'll show you the way out, and you can also give Optimus a message for me."
     "What?! Y/D, are you crazy?! I'm not leaving without you!"
     "Smokescreen, you have to! Please-! Don't make this harder than it has to be."

     Y/D, still holding Smokescreen's servo, led him to the flight deck of the Nemesis.

     "Contact the bots. Hopefully they can ground bridge you back to base. And tell Optimus- tell everyone that I'm sorry. And tell them to not worry, and we'll see each other again."

     "Y/D-"

Before the racecar could say anything else, Y/D was gone. She knew she had to be gone before her brother could see her helping the other side still.

     And just as she left, Megatron entered. And as soon as he entered, Smokescreen took a giant leap of faith into the sky, being chased by cons. And as much as they tried to stop him, they couldn't.

     "Wait, you found Y/D, but she didn't come back with you?!"
Ratchet practically yelled at the younger mech, who looked anxiously at him.

     "I tried to bring her back! But... She didn't listen... She wouldn't hear it. She gave me a message too."

     This grabbed the attention of Optimus, who had at first, been so lost in his processor after seeing Y/D hadn't returned.

     "She said she's sorry, and that we'll see each other again..."

     "No... No. She didn't." Arcee glared at him.
     "Why would she stay there?" Bulkhead questioned.
     :- You're actually joking, right?-: Bumblebee buzzed, his car wings slightly flapping angrily.
    
     "It's true! I don't know what else to say to you guys-! Y/D is back with the cons."

     Megatron stood with Y/D by his side, both of them staring at the red medic trapped in the wall.

     "Please, my liege! Let me out!"

     "You'll be there as a reminder to everyone else of what happens when you fail me."

     "Y/D-! Please tell him to let me out!"

     "Sorry, KO... Can't go against my brother..."

     The siblings walked away in unison, and left the medic whining and in a fuss.

     "It surely is great to have you back again, Y/D. I've missed having your cheerful self around."

     "Yeah.. I missed you too."
