Chapter 52:
The rivalry between UConn and Notre Dame had been brewing for years, but this season, it was Paige and Hannah who turned it into pure entertainment. Between Instagram stories, TikToks, and not-so-subtle digs, fans from both sides were eating up the drama.
Paige's latest move—calling Hannah "Hannah Montana" on her IG story with the caption, Can't wait to see the Best of Both Worlds this Friday—was the spark that sent the internet into overdrive. Hannah, ever witty, clapped back with a TikTok of her crossing up a defender in practice, paired with Miley Cyrus's The Climb as the background track.
The fans loved it, but the players? They were having fun with it, too.
The Night Before the Game
Azzi decided to hop on Instagram Live while chilling in her dorm. Paige, as always, was sprawled out on her bed in the background, scrolling through her phone.
"Y'all keep asking me about tomorrow," Azzi said, reading the comments. "Yeah, we're ready. Gonna be a good game. Lots of energy."
Paige perked up, tossing a pillow at Azzi. "Tell them I said I'm gonna cook Hannah Montana tomorrow," she said with a smirk.
Azzi rolled her eyes. "You're such a troll," she muttered, but her grin gave her away.
Seconds later, Olivia Miles joined the live. "What's up, Azzi?" she said, her voice full of mischief.
Paige, hearing Olivia's voice, got up and leaned into the camera. "Tell Hannah Montana I said hi."
Olivia laughed. "Oh, she's right here. Wanna tell her yourself?"
Before Paige could answer, Hannah's voice came from Olivia's side. "What's Paige saying now? Let me guess—something about wigs and Disney Channel."
Hannah appeared on Olivia's screen, smirking. Paige grinned back. "Hey, Hannah Montana! How's the fan club doing?"
Hannah rolled her eyes but smiled. "You're real bold for someone who's about to lose tomorrow."
"We'll see," Paige said. "But seriously, all jokes aside, good luck tomorrow. Let's give them a show."
Hannah nodded, her competitive edge softening for a moment. "Yeah, for sure. Let's make it a good one."
Azzi chimed in. "Are y'all squashing the beef right now? This is live, you know."
Both Paige and Hannah laughed.
"Call it a truce—for now," Hannah said, wagging her finger at the screen.
"For now," Paige agreed.
Game Day:
The next day, the atmosphere in the arena was electric. Fans packed the stands, the rivalry thicker than ever, but this time, there was an undercurrent of respect between the two teams.
Paige and Hannah exchanged glances during warmups, both smirking but keeping it professional.
As the game tipped off, it was clear neither team was holding back. Paige and Hannah traded buckets, assists, and defensive stops, each proving why they were two of the best in the game.
By halftime, the score was tied, and both players had already racked up double digits.
Post-Game:
The game ended with UConn narrowly winning by two points, thanks to Azzi's clutch three-pointer in the final seconds. Paige immediately ran to hug Azzi before jogging over to the Notre Dame players.
When she reached Hannah, the two locked eyes and shook hands firmly.
"Good game," Paige said sincerely.
"Good game," Hannah replied, her competitive fire dimmed but not extinguished.
Paige smirked. "So, Montana, truce?"
Hannah laughed. "Truce. But next time, we're taking the win."
"Yeah, yeah," Paige said with a grin. "We'll see about that."
As they walked off the court, the cameras caught a moment of the two laughing and talking, the rivalry giving way to mutual respect.
Later That Night
Paige posted an Instagram story of her and Azzi celebrating the win with the caption: Hannah Montana put up a fight, but the Best of Both Worlds wasn't enough tonight.
Hannah reposted it with the caption: Enjoy it while it lasts, Bueckers. We'll see you in March.
Fans couldn't get enough of the banter, but for Paige and Hannah, the rivalry had shifted. It wasn't about animosity anymore—it was about pushing each other to be better, one game at a time.
