Chapter 21:

It was a rare night off for the team, and they decided to unwind with something fun—a spontaneous dance-off in the dorm's common room. Paige, who was always down for a challenge, was the first to suggest it.

"We've been working hard. Let's blow off some steam," Paige announced as she connected her phone to the speaker system, scrolling through her playlist. "I'm thinking we need some epic beats for this."

The girls gathered around, their excitement building. Kk and Aubrey immediately started hyping up the idea, while Nika, ever the competitor, cracked her knuckles in preparation.

"Oh, it's on," Nika declared, giving Paige a challenging look. "I've been waiting to show you what I've got."

"Bring it," Paige shot back with a grin.

As the music started blasting, the energy in the room skyrocketed. Azzi, who was usually more reserved, found herself being pulled into the fun by Paige, who grabbed her hand and dragged her to the center of the room.

"Come on, Azzi! You've got moves, I've seen them," Paige encouraged, giving her a playful nudge.

Azzi laughed, shaking her head. "I don't know, Paige. I might embarrass you."

"Oh, please, you could never," Paige said, her voice full of confidence. "Just follow my lead."

The beat dropped, and Paige started dancing, her movements smooth and confident. Azzi watched for a moment, then joined in, mirroring Paige's moves. At first, she was a little hesitant, but as the rhythm took over, she found herself relaxing and having fun.

The rest of the team quickly got into it, forming a circle around Paige and Azzi as they danced. Kk and Aubrey cheered them on, while Nika stood off to the side, eyeing the competition with a smirk.

"Okay, okay, I can't just watch," Nika finally said, stepping forward and taking center stage. She started to dance, her moves sharp and precise, clearly showing off her skills.

The girls erupted in cheers as Nika executed a flawless spin, ending with a confident pose. Paige laughed, impressed but not intimidated.

"Alright, Nika, I see you," Paige said, stepping back in to challenge her. "But can you do this?"

Paige busted out a series of intricate footwork moves, mixing in some playful shimmies that had the girls laughing and clapping along. Azzi, standing close by, couldn't help but admire how effortlessly Paige commanded the space. There was something about the way Paige moved—so full of energy and life—that made her even more attractive.

Nika wasn't one to back down, though. She fired back with a set of breakdance-inspired moves that had everyone gasping in surprise. The competition was fierce, but it was all in good fun.

Azzi, caught up in the excitement, decided to join in again. She stepped between Paige and Nika, throwing in some freestyle moves that were surprisingly good, causing Paige to let out a whoop of approval.

"Azzi! Where have you been hiding those?" Kk shouted, clapping her hands together in delight.

Azzi shrugged, a little shy but clearly enjoying herself. "I guess I've been holding back."

"Don't hold back now!" Paige said, pulling Azzi closer as they danced together, their movements in sync.

The dance-off continued with more girls jumping in, each bringing their unique style and energy. The room was filled with laughter, cheers, and the sound of stomping feet as the team let loose.

At one point, Kk took over the music, switching to a slower, sultrier beat. Paige and Azzi found themselves dancing together again, this time with a more intimate vibe. The change in tempo had them moving closer, their bodies almost touching as they swayed to the music.

Azzi felt a rush of warmth as Paige leaned in, her eyes locked on hers. There was a teasing smile on Paige's lips, one that made Azzi's heart race.

"Are you trying to outdance me?" Paige asked, her voice low and playful.

"Maybe," Azzi replied, unable to keep the smile off her face. "Think you can handle it?"

Paige grinned, pulling Azzi even closer, their bodies brushing against each other. "I can handle anything you throw at me."

The tension between them was palpable, but it was broken when Kk suddenly cranked up the volume and switched the song to something upbeat again. The mood shifted back to playful, and the two girls laughed, breaking apart to continue dancing with the rest of the team.

As the night went on, the dance-off evolved into an impromptu party. The girls took turns showing off their moves, challenging each other, and just enjoying the moment. By the time they finally collapsed onto the couches, exhausted but happy, it was clear that the night had been exactly what they needed.

Paige, breathless and grinning, leaned back and looked at Azzi, who was sitting beside her. "That was fun. We should do this more often."

Azzi nodded, still catching her breath. "Definitely. But next time, I'm going to win."

"Oh, it's on," Paige said, giving her a playful nudge.

The rest of the team laughed, already looking forward to the next dance-off. But for now, they were content to just bask in the afterglow of a night well spent, their bond stronger than ever.
