Chapter 3:

As the weeks passed, Paige and Azzi became experts at hiding their relationship from their teammates. They stole glances during practice, shared secret smiles across the locker room, and found excuses to spend time alone whenever they could. But the secrecy was both thrilling and exhausting.

One afternoon, after a particularly grueling practice, the team gathered in the locker room, laughter and chatter filling the air. Paige sat on the bench, untying her sneakers, when one of her teammates, Kk, plopped down next to her.

"You've been in a good mood lately," kk teased, nudging Paige with her elbow. "Got a secret admirer or something?"

Paige's heart skipped a beat, but she quickly forced a laugh. "Nah, just focused on the season. We've got a championship to win, remember?"

Kk raised an eyebrow, clearly not convinced, but she let it go, turning her attention to another conversation. Paige let out a silent sigh of relief, but she could feel Azzi's eyes on her from across the room.

Later that night, Paige and Azzi met up in Paige's dorm room, the only place they could truly be alone. They sat on the bed, surrounded by textbooks and notes, but neither of them was in the mood to study.

"This is harder than I thought," Paige admitted, running a hand through her hair. "I hate lying to everyone."

Azzi nodded, her expression mirroring Paige's frustration. "I know, but it's only temporary. Once the season's over, we can figure out how to tell them."

Paige sighed, leaning back against the pillows. "I just hope they understand."

Azzi reached out, taking Paige's hand in hers. "They will. And if they don't, we'll deal with it together."

Paige squeezed Azzi's hand, grateful for her steady presence. Despite the challenges, being with Azzi made everything worth it. As they leaned in for another kiss, the world outside their little bubble faded away, leaving only the warmth of their connection.
