Flashback
The air in the locker room was still heavy after the blowout loss to Notre Dame. Paige, leaning against the lockers, scrolled through Instagram, her face twisting in annoyance when she stumbled across a post from Olivia Miles' account.
It was a picture of Notre Dame celebrating their win with a caption that read, "Big win tonight. See y'all in March."
Paige rolled her eyes and muttered, "See us in March? They act like they're invincible now."
Azzi smirked as she taped up her ankles. "You're not gonna let this go, are you?"
"Let it go? No way," Paige said with a grin. "Olivia and Hannah are gonna hear from me."
By the time they were on the bus back to campus, Paige's story was already causing chaos on Instagram. She'd posted a picture of Notre Dame's highlight reel with the caption:
"Congrats to Hannah Montana and the squad for their Disney Channel performance tonight. Catch y'all next time, though."
The team erupted in laughter when they saw it. Kk doubled over in her seat, gasping for air. "Paige, you're gonna start a war with that one!"
Paige shrugged, looking unbothered. "If the shoe fits."
End of flashback
Over the next few days, Notre Dame fans and players fired back. Hannah Hidalgo reposted Paige's story with the caption, "Tell me you're bitter without telling me you're bitter." Olivia chimed in with her own post: "Disney Channel? Paige must still be watching reruns."
The back-and-forth spilled into TikTok, where fans made memes of Paige as Miley Cyrus and Hannah as her alter ego. Paige leaned into the chaos, posting a side-by-side picture of Hannah Montana and Hannah Hidalgo with the caption: "Twins, no?"
Azzi, caught in the middle of the drama, tried to mediate. "Paige, you're gonna make this game personal next time."
"Good," Paige said with a mischievous grin. "It'll be more fun that way."
The Live Confrontation
A few weeks later, Azzi was lounging in her dorm room, scrolling through Instagram when she saw Olivia Miles go live. Curiosity got the better of her, and she joined the stream.
"Azzi, what's good?" Olivia said, leaning into the camera. In the background, Hannah Hidalgo was braiding her hair, clearly aware of the live's viewers.
"Just chilling," Azzi replied, setting her phone on the desk. "What's up with y'all?"
"We're good," Olivia said with a sly grin. "How's your teammate Paige? Still making TikToks about Hannah?"
Azzi laughed, but before she could respond, Paige appeared in the background of her live, holding a bag of chips.
"Azzi, tell her I said hi," Paige said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "Or should I call her Hannah Montana?"
Olivia and Hannah both perked up, hearing Paige's voice. Olivia smirked. "Oh, is that Paige Bueckers in the back? Miss Disney Channel herself?"
Paige walked closer to Azzi's phone, her expression feigning shock. "Disney Channel? Oh, that's rich coming from you, Olivia. Aren't you the one who plays like she's auditioning for Bring It On every game?"
Hannah rolled her eyes in the background of Olivia's live. "You're obsessed with me, Paige. Just admit it."
"Obsessed?" Paige gasped dramatically. "Girl, I only mentioned you because I'm trying to boost your clout. You should be thanking me."
Azzi, caught between laughter and secondhand embarrassment, tried to defuse the tension. "Alright, alright, can we all just calm down before this gets too spicy?"
Olivia, still grinning, leaned into the camera. "Paige, you're lucky we're not on the court right now. But next time we see y'all? It's on."
Paige smirked. "Looking forward to it. Hope Hannah Montana shows up with her A-game this time."
Hannah, unable to hold back, stepped closer to Olivia's phone. "You talk a big game for someone who couldn't even drop 20 on us last time."
"Yeah, but I don't need to when Azzi's out there dropping buckets on y'all," Paige shot back.
Azzi held up her hands. "Don't bring me into this! I'm just here for the show."
The live continued for a few more minutes, filled with playful jabs and laughter that had fans in the comments going wild. By the time Azzi ended her live, she turned to Paige with a raised eyebrow.
"You know they're gonna be gunning for us now, right?"
Paige shrugged, a smirk still on her face. "Good. I wouldn't have it any other way."
Game Day Locker Room
As the next matchup against Notre Dame approached, the buzz on social media was electric. Fans from both sides speculated about how the tension would play out on the court. Paige leaned into the drama, posting a video of herself practicing with the caption: "Ready for my encore, Hannah Montana."
Azzi sighed as she scrolled through the comments. "Paige, you're gonna make this game a circus."
Paige grinned, her confidence unwavering. "Nah, Azzi. I'm just giving the fans what they want."
