Summer Sadness

Chapter 22 | Goodbyes

Jenn.

I headed downstairs and outside to see my parents and my closest friends. I dropped my stuff and i felt a tear run down my face. Matt also did too and we both hugged.

"Im gonna miss you Davis. So much" he said while we were hugging.

"I dont want to leave" i say back.

We let go and look at each other crying.

"Ill keep you update with everything!" I say.

"I know you will"

I hug everyone else and we all cry. This wasnt just some trip to Hawaii for a while. This was me and Shawn being gone for months till theyre are breaks then we go back. I didnt think how hard it was gonna be to leave.

Everyone had to leave before me and Shawn did except Matt. After everyone left and me and Shawn were putting our suitcases in the car, Jake came out of his house. He was looking at me so i decided to walk over to him.

"You have the worst timing dont you?" I cross my arms.

"Going on a trip before summer ends?" He asks.

"Actually im going to collage with Shawn"

"Oh...so youre--"

"Not gonna see me for a long time" i smile.

"Never told me you were applying for collage" he says.

"Never said you dated lots of girls" i point out.

He was silent.

"Here" i pull out the photo thats rip.

"Wanna know how i feel?" I ask.

He stays silent.

I rip it down the middle so me and Jake are seperated. I put the part with me back in my pocket and rip up Jakes part and let the pieces fall to the ground.

I pat is shoulder, "im so glad that things will be much happier now that were not neighbors, dont you agree?"

He stays silent and looks down. I notice he was looking at something to his left. I turn and notice he was looking at Shawn putting the last of the suitcases in the car.

"Have a great summer Jake" i walk away.

Shawn and I gave Matt one last hug and got in the car. As we drove away we waved bye to Matt till we couldnt see him anymore. As we were getting on the freeway i was thinking how bitchy i was to Jake. Honestly that was really rude of me but maybe that got him to get over me more.

"You ready for this new chapter in our lives?" Shawn asks.

"Ive been ready" i mumble.

"Will miss you honey" my mom hugs me.

"Take good care of her Shawn" my dad says.

"Will do" Shawn smiles.

I gave my parents on last, big hug goodbye. We waved bye as they drove off. We turned around to see the enormous, and beautiful if i may add, collage. Everyone had suitcases and were hugging people.

Me and Shawn looked at each other and took a deep breath, thinking about where we are, our future, and for me not just school or career wise..i mean relationship wise. Good or bad. Depending on whats gonna happen over this year.

"You ready?" He asks.

"Ready" we hold hands, in a non couple way, and walk in.
